I ordered new front springs for my truck from Custom Suspension and they arrived today so I tore into it and completed the install. This is how the truck stance was before I removed the old junk........


As you can see my front end was pretty much sagged out. The bottom of my oil pan was level with the top of the front axle.


The old spring pack was 2 1/4 inches thick........ 6 ply


The new parabolic spring is also 2 1/4 inches thick.......3 ply


I checked the yoke angle with a protractor before and after the install and there was no change......


Final installation with the axle hanging.......


And the final result at sundown........


The installation went very well and bolted up nice. The oil pan now sits 3 1/2 inches above the axle so my total gain was 3 1/2. They are a soft ride spring so my ride will improve drastically. I was told that the lift would be 2 inches above stock so I guess my stock springs were bagged out 1 1/2 inches. I complimented the install with a new pair of bilstien shocks. After 20 years I finally have my truck sitting on the level........

looks very cool! i really like your truck. (blue is "my" color) as a matter of fact, i have a picture of it you posted on here where it is sitting in the snow, saved on my computer at work. and, it is in my screen-saver rotation! LOL, i also really like the stock "steelie" wheels. gives the truck an all business attitude. very cool!

I think you are more than 2'' above stock. Was the 3.5'' from oil pan bottom to diff tube top or diff tube center?

Can you measure from your lockout hub top to bottom of fender? From what i have gathered 2'' lift will be right around 23'' with 1.5-1/75'' from pan to tube top.

nice truck. are these the same parabolic springs that were brought up a while ago? i allways measured from bumpstop to spring. let us know how they ride and handle a load. are you going to put on a drop pitman also?

I took a rough measure from the bottom of the oil pan down to the top of the axle tube. It may have been a little below the top of the axle tube but not by much. My 52 year old body rolling around under the truck and being half blind at that just doesn't cut it anymore After 20 years of wrenching on these old bricks, Chrysler should give you a free hoist !
I did a measure from the top of the lock out to the inner front fender and it comes in at exactly 24 inches. I placed a level on the bottom of my rocker panel and it is sligtly high in the front but still inside the bubble lines. With the new factory springs on the back it will be bang on. My rears are done. I used my truck for extreme duty for the first 16 years of ownership......many loads of stone, logs, moose, you name it, she hauled it !

Yes they are ...... I believe that there is another member on here with a set on a body conversion. They are built by Custom Suspension. My pitman arm doesn't seem to be that bad. I am looking into the cross over steering.

I finished putting the exhaust, front drive shaft and bumper back on this afternoon and brought it for a peel late today. All I can say is that when they say soft ride they mean it. While driving my truck before the modification I could feel every little bump and the front end always felt heavy if you know what I mean. My springs were bagged down and my front shocks were on the verge of toast so that didn't help. I was told that my ride would be similar to a diesel coil front end. I have never driven in a truck with a 3 rd gen coil set up but I can tell you this.......The ride that I experienced today was unreal. It drives as if the 880 lb engine has been removed from the front end.......like it literally floats. There is no front end bounce when I hit bumps and the ride seems to be better than when I first drove the truck off the lot back in 1992. The heavy feeling of the front end is gone and I no longer feel every single bump and dip in the road. I can actually drink a coffee now without it splashing all over the cab
I love the new ride, one of the best mods I have ever made to the truck and long over due. Very pleased with the results Enafzige
Next year I am going to get new spring packs made up with a higher arch to keep my truck level and remove the factory 6 inch blocks, remove the old long 9/16 u blots and upgrade to some bigger hardware with shorter u bolts to prevent axle wrap.

Here's a picture taken in the light today to give you a better idea of the stance. The spring pack on the drivers side is weak and the next ply down from the main on the opposite side has been replaced so it doesn't quite sit on the level in the back but money and time will solve the inevitable.

Where is custom suspension, and what did you pay for them ??

I assume they made them from scratch, vs having a set on the shelf, correct ???

How much to ship them to you. ?



I'm intrigued by these springs and how they work.... more importantly, how comfortable they make the ride.


Love the blue truck theme. How long ago was it repainted ?

Man your truck is as about as good as it gets, really a pristine piece. I didn't realize it was a one owner, that, in my mind at least, makes it alot more unique and desireable.
