Factory Mud flaps

My new truck is suppose to come with factory mud flaps, but my dealer say's they are on back order and haven't been released yet. Has anyone heard the same?

Mudflaps now Mileage...

Fiddlerkelly - you've hijacked this thread about mudflaps, so hopefully the moderator can move this to a new thread about mileage. I can tell you that comparing a gas engine to a diesel is comparing apples to oranges - there's so many differences besides mileage that you need to consider all of them...
But to answer your question directly - right now my 2010 2500 diesel with abotu 2K miles on it with an auto and 3.73 rear is running about 16mpg combined highway/city. And since diesels take at least 10K miles to break in (at least), I would expect this to go up at least one mpg...

My 2012 Longhorn 3500 came new without mud flaps. Has anyone else experienced this? Any mudflap recommends? My truck is not a dually.

A couple of months ago there was a clip on the news about a stock 2008 (I think)3/4 ton Chevy that the owner got a ticket for no mud flaps. They were the original owners and bought the truck from a local dealer without mud flaps. The dealer made good for the ticket and mudflaps. They went on to say the mudflap law has always been there just not enforced. I would say every single newer truck does not meet this law.... unless the owner added mudflaps.

I've lived here for almost 30 years and always had SRW trucks as many as 4 at one time and NEVER had mud flaps on any of them, never had a problem. I saw the news clip twice and all they said was the law had been there for years but no one paid any attention to it, but that couple did get a ticket for it, the dealer paid for the ticket and to install mud flaps on the older truck. I still don't have any.
