would this electric fuel pump work?

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ATX-E8153/
I'm lookin for a cheap and easy way to bring my fuel pressure up right now. Under about 3/4 throttle i can suck it down to 0 and want to do something about it soon so i can feel better about openin er up. I have seen electric fuel pumps like these on other diesels and my grandpa has one kind of like this on his swather. Do ya think this would do the temporary job of giving me the fuel i need? at 14 psi it should be good, but the 35 gph seems a little low to me? what do ya think?

93 auto tranny question

I test drove a 93 with an auto tranny, it shifted fine but would not go into overdrive, it just stayed in third gear at highway speed. I am wondering if this would just be a solenoid or a sensor that needs replaced. I am wanting to get this truck, but if it is going to be an expensive fix it might change matters, or the purchase price.

Understanding VE

I'm wondering if someone here could explain the actual functions of the adjustments on the VE pump.
Let me start by saying that the reason I ask, is that I put two turns on the fuel screw. The truck idled much higher, so I adjusted the idle screw down to get the low speed correct. The truck didn't idle as nice, and the throttle response was "soft" and very dirty. I even set the fuel pin to its shallow side, and turned the star wheel up to its max limit.
I set the full power screw back out one turn, than reset the idle speed. The truck now is starting to run closer to normal (cleaner, with more "sharp" throttle response).
My question is more,"what does the screw effect?" In other words, is it adding pressure, but for a shorter duration, or what?

Leaking Injection Pump

My Injection pump has been leaking so I pulled it last week hoping to fix it. the leak came from the front (pictures below)and I thought that either the nut was loose or the washer was bad. The nut was tight so I replaced the washer. Put the pump back on and the leak was exactly the same. Can can anyone tell me what part of the pump this is and why it might still be leaking?

Thanks

Help! Truck died and can't revive it...

Hey guys, sorry to be a bad-weather poster, but I need help. I can't get my '92 D250 going.

Thursday I was driving home from work. I was coasting to a red light at about 30mph when I noticed the truck died. No warning signs prior to that, just dead. While still rolling, I popped it into neutral and cranked it with no luck. Stopped rolling, tried again, no luck. Not even a sign of wanting to fire.

Came back to it Sat. morning after doing some research on the forums. I started thinking that it must be something involving the fuel cut solenoid. I am lucky enough to have Alldata access through a buddy of mine, and info from there said that if the solenoid is the problem, all you have to do is remove the solenoid (note: it takes a 24mm open end, in case anyone needs to know) and then take out the solenoids plunger and spring, reinstall, and it should start after that. Did that (which was a pain, by the way) and still no luck.

I checked the lift pumps fuel output when cranking and that seemed to be more than adequate. I also cracked open the inj. pump fuel inlet line and cranked the motor to make sure fuel was there, and a healthy amount spilled out. Finally, I tried bleeding fuel at the injectors multiple times. I was able to get a healthy flow from the #2 injector, and a bit of fuel from the #5, but not even a hint of any from the other 4 :(

The truck has plenty of fuel in the tank. I did recently crank down my AFC star wheel a bit, and I rotated the fuel pin, but I really don't see how those changes could have done this. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

1000 mile roundtrip...thoughts...

Hey guys,

So I took my truck on her first road trip. I drove from Princeton NJ to New Martinsville WV (which is about 30 miles downriver from Wheeling).

On the way there I took the pretty flat way: US 1. to PA Turnpike to Interstate 70 to WV 2.

The truck ran great. I have an issue though, which was pretty annoying. When I go from using the pedal for power to kind of gliding, when it goes through that transition the truck shakes like hell above 60 mph. Popping it into neutral is the worst. I had to use a little finesse on the way there to minimize that... I understand it's the driveshaft, but short of replacing the whole assembly, I'm really not sure what to do about it. The U Joints are brand new.

Anyway, made it there...430 miles. Took me about 7.5 hrs.

On the way home I decided to go a different way and took WV 7 to Morgantown and then jumped on 68E and then 81N to the PA Turnpike and then to US1 and I was home. 440 miles. This time it took me just under 7 hrs. Maybe 6 hrs and 48 mins, with 1 fuel stop and a quick stop for a sandwich at Arby's in Carlisle.

This was definitely a more fun road. The high point on 68E is somewhere in Maryland at 2800 ft. It took a while to get up there and then, according to the signs it was 12 miles of 6% grade on the way down. The truck sure handles those hills like nothing. She would hit about 22 PSI and 1000 degrees at 80 MPH on the steepest inclines. Good times...wasn't too many folk I didn't pass on the way up those hills.

The aforementioned vibrations were MUCH harder to avoid on the hills, as there was a lot of coasting coming down from the 'mountains' (I'm from Alaska, and if there are trees on the top, I don't really consider them mountains).

Anyway, I have yet to calculate my mileage, as my speedo is off and I have to do a little math, but I'm pretty sure it was under 20 mpg...which is a little disappointing. But I couldn't stand to do 65 on such a long drive, and my truck and tires are pretty big, so we'll see...

So my front springs are finally sagging to the point that its unbearable. I have begun the search to either re-arch them, replace them, or just crutch them with an add-a-leaf kit. I dont really want to add much of a lift to the front end, just get it back to stock or maybe an inch or so of lift. What are your suggestions? thanks in advance!

I posted this in the second gen 12 valve section but havent gotten a responce so I thought I would try asking here. As I know alot of you have messed with P pumps.

I am working on a friends truck it is a 97 3500 4x4 dually auto. The truck is stock and has never been turned up. I know it is heavy compared to my first gen but this thing is slow. I took it for a ride and when floored there is little to no smoke at all. Then all of a sudden when it gets to 2500 rpm there is a huge cloud of black smoke that comes out and blacks out the whole street. Now when it does this there does not seem to be any change in power. also it dosent smoke like that every time sometimes you can hold it to the floor and it wont smoke a drop the whole time. The guy that owns the truck says that sometimes when he takes off it feels very powerful and then he will stop and take off again and it doesent have much power at all. I just changed the fuel filter and installed a fuel pressure gauge. There is 22 psi at idle and 38 or so at 2500 so I dont think that fp is causing it. I am not to familiar with how a p pump works I have only messed whith my ve before. I know the ve has a fuel pin and if it was my truck I would be looking to see if the fuel pin was stuck and to make sure there wasnt a boost leak in the line to the afc housing. But I am not sure how this thing works exactly. Sorry for the long post but I wanted to describe the problem as best I could.

Here's one of the top 1st gen pullers in the country guys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0K0mZyETwPk

Left the line at 5900 rpm[guitar]. Near the end of the pull he broke the throttle shaft off at the injection pump. Went from lotsa rpm to idle. The np205 is no longer under it. He's gone to a 241dhd and 5.13 gears. I tried to get him to go to the 271 but a 241 fell into his lap for cheap.

Also here's my gasser trash pull for the Dodge gasser truck fans[laugh]: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8G-BFuPERc

Feel free to look at my other vids on youtube, I've got a few other vids of my hooks and a few other Dodge gassers for those interested.

I just got done setting my truck almost back to stock. I have a reman ip that hasn't been messed with and new 40hp injectors. I still have my 60mm h1c compressor with the stock 18.5 housing that I haven't put on yet. My question is, do I have enough fuel to spool the 60mm wheel? If so what kind of boost numbers will I see?
