Exhaust options...?

So, after 330,700 miles, the tailpipe fell off of my factory-stock exhaust system today. I have thought that I might conviently leave off at least the muffler on the next one, but I'm one to keep driving with what I have until it needs replaced.

I'm open to a 4" Cat-back system, but first, in Illinois is this legal on a '96 truck? Second, how is the cost compared to a stock 3" system with a new muffler. The Cat is around $1100, if it's plugged (how could it not be) I'll likely just pipe it through as well. What are the reccommended systems and how difficult is it to change it out?

Thanks for the help - never had to research an exhaust before, but I'd like to keep this nice, new sound level I have discovered...

Check the DTR store for a MBRP system, they seem to get good reviews

.... shouldnt need the cat seems some of them had them some didnt....

go 4" it will be a lot cheaper than replacing the entire stock exhaust is my guess.

check rip rook (search google) or rpmoutlet.com .... or ebay

also milage will suffer for a while until you get used to it. Every chance you get you'll want to get on it just to hear it.
