my truck has tick or nock sounds like it comes from the moter so i removed the valve cover gasget and everything is tght up top so i think it must be deeper in the engine you can really hear it when you down shift would really apreciate some imput on what this might be i had the idia this motor would go 400000 easy mine got 170000 anybody else have this kindof trouble?<br>

I've benn told about a fuel return valve in the pump, that has a spring that goes bad. Weather got too cold before I could look into it, I'll probabaly wait til spring to check unless something bad happens. If nobody jumps in here do a little searching for the last couple months...I'll check too.

Ill check that out but mine is perty loud dont know if the fuel pump could make that loud or not

My friend only changed his oil three times. The truck has 140k on it and it knocks a little. O yeah it has only had two oil filters. The oil guage quit when he dumped kareosine *sp* in the oil and ran if for about 5 min. It still runs great. Has a wierd smell out of the tail pipe and ticks down the road. <br>not the smartest kid but hey he bought the right truck if that is how he is going to treat it.

Rammin On

Pinch off your fuel return line .... if it quits ticking it's the overflow valve .. if not check the area around the lift pump. Sometimes they'll tick loud before they fail.
