Edge EZ and Check Engine Light

Drove down to my local ATS shop today to look at gauges. When I returned to my truck I started it up and behold, my check engine light, the abs light, and my air bag light were all indicating on my dash panel. What the? So, I decided it was a fluke and drove home where I disconneced the neg batt cables to let it sit for a while and hopefully clear what ever codes it had thrown. On the way home, the abs and air bags lights went off on their own. I let it sit for 30 minutes, then did an apps reset. Turned the key to on and rats!, the engine light was still on. So, I pull it into the garage, disconnect the batt cables again, disconnect my EZ and put all plugs back to original, disconnect and reinstall the 3 plugs on the ecm, reconnect the cables, switch the key to on, and no light. Good I say, so I reconnect the EZ, turn the key to on, see no light, and start up. All seems well now. Does the EZ box cause these kinds of problems with any of you guys? What could cause my abs and air bag lights to go on too? On my speedo readout it said something about "bus", and for a short time my regular gauges and speedo were not working, what is that? Did I catch an electromagnetic pulse from something? This condition, from all I know happened while the truck was parked.

Right off the top of my head I'd say bad connection on one or more of the EZ connectors.

The act of detaching then reattaching might have cleaned up whatever was fouling the plugs.

Might want to detach again, add some dialectric grease, then reattach to prevent future errors.

The "bus" readout in the odometer would mean the PCM/ECM wasn't getting data from somewhere, again a dirty connector would do that.

phox

Its sounds like you may have gotten a little moisture in the Data link connection, and a short triggered your lights. If the short had occured in the MAP plug, it would have given you an overboost code.

Rod

Re:Edge EZ and Check Engine Light

Ok, thanks PR & PM. I feel much better now. The MAP plug was dirty when I installed the EZ, and so were the three ECM sockets today. I blew the sockets out with compressed air and will plan on getting some dialectric greese to the EZ plugs.
