Drag tires ?

Evenin, DTR.

I need to start looking for some drag tires all the way around... what am I looking for? I don't want slicks, without being able to burn them on all 4 corners, they are pretty useless.

I guess I'm looking for some street slicks, something that will grab really good, but not need a warm up. I know I spin till about the 30' mark with stock 265's at 30psi...

Thanks!

madhat, did you end up finding a set you like yet? I have been doing a little looking myself, but have not found anything that really catches me eye.

I'm on another site that has a Thread for discount tires direct and I'll ask what the closest he can get to 245/70/17 drag radials, or maybe something in 31-32 tall. Does that height work or can you go shorter?

Edit, I see your trap speed and you probably couldn't go lower than 31 and that's pushing it depending on your gear and rev limiter.

Yeah, I think a 31 is about it. 265 is great... that's what I ran for that trap speed. I had a lot of slippage on the line, and some boost issues that kept my 60 ft time around 1.9-2.0. I was running them down like mad in the big end, tho!

Yeah a link would be awesome. I was wanting to do the same thing you were with the h2 wheels and tires. Is that pretty much the smallest tire we can use, a 245 or 265?

Alright I asked, 31-33 height preferably 32. When he gets back to me I'll let you know, they might not be available. I also asked to specify weight ratings on the higher side.

The Toyo Proxes ST II tires in 285/60/17 work well for me at the drag strip.... on 06 factory 17" polished Aluminum wheels.
They are directional, which does, IMO, give better traction.
31" tires with 11.5" tread width and fairly soft rubber!

http://toyotires.com/tire/pattern/proxes-st-ii

They don't spin with a 20-22 psi launch on my 3.55 rear end. I've seen them run on a 06 with 850 hp and the proxes II only chirped a bit on the 1-2 and 2-3 shift!
