Yeah, getting a little brush action (beard) with the simple green might be good.

Send a message via AIM to 06 DIESEL
I use Simple Green and water to keep mine clean, just be careful around electrical connections.

Hey just a heads up. If you have an X2 new harness check the rail preasure plug Quad side. Mine was not sealed manufacture proplem not Quad as they don't make them. You can see how water could get in and short it out.
Water can and will enter the plug and cause rail sensor to short and fail I know its happened twice now. Thats till I starting looking at the harness and seen it. Old harness on and no problems washed just too check it to see alls good.
Only thing that sucks is the cost for rental that good old Dodge didn't want to pay under warranty. Thats a hole other story.
Quad is aware of this. I sent them pics and the harness back.
Not wanting to cause panic everyone just be aware this is just a pain in the butt to have to deal with as your late to work and your sitting there scratching your head going what the heck is going on as it runs like crap or won't run at all. Oh then the shame of seeing your beast on a flat bed almost brings a tear to your eye.

Aha!

I just went out to have a look at my new Quad 2 harness and you're right, that rail pressure plug is open at the top, unlike the original that has seals around the wires. I rinsed things off under the hood this weekend with the new harness installed and later on that day, lost the rail pressure sensor. It's a nice harness, aside from that, and I suppose those plugs could be sealed up with a little RTV. I wonder how many failures like this have occurred, and if Quad has a fix in mind?

This has happened to me as well 2 TIMES!!! I now drive around w/ an extra 200.00 sensor in the glove box! I siliconed the top of the plug.

Just got off the phone w/ Jermey and they are aware of this and fixing the ones the have. They sealed over 600 today he said. There using a potting glue on them and the manufature is now sealing them as well.
He said the manufacture said that they cant use the same type of sealing as the middle pin cause there are two wires instead of one like center pin. Quad told them to fix it before the ship to them.
Again thanks for the explanation Jermey and call back

Yeah, and what about those who have paid 200.00 to over 900.00 because of this little error?

TCR I not tring to start anything here to get anyone PO'd just aware. They will fix it if you send it back like they did with me I'm sure. They will test as well. It's funny ok not really, how something this simple went unnoticed, unfortunatly for both parties. I will say the manufacture knew this but tried to get away with it or just didn't think it mattered. I too encured some money loss for this as well. If you talk with your dealer or Cummins it's not recommended to use direct water, steam cleaning only. So theres ALWAYS a chance of water penatration with a garden hose or pressure washer. I will say before I start my truck after a engine cleaning I'll blow that plug out dry before it gets started can never be too safe. So I am to blame as well thats why I can't feel right wanting Quad to pay for my cost. Luckly warranty cover labor and parts just cost me rental for 8 days for both accurance(lots of Blue hairs here in the winter takes forever to get anything done ).
So if your concerned give Jermey or Justin a call they will get it taken care of.
Thanks for listening to me ramble

Well thats what the Cummins guy told me last time it was in. The dealer called them since it was a second accurance in less then a month. Hey I ran a detail shop for 6 years and never had any issues except for the famous GM windshield washer motor that stayed on till it dried out. Had a lot of po'd customers on that one.

How many STEAM cleaners do you come across? I haven't seen one in years. On top of that it USE to be(may still) a sticker under the hood that said DO NOT USE STEAM as it screws with the ac system.

I edited my last post because I don't want to start trouble, I just think it is very unfortunate that a guy gets charged $900+ for a $180 part that takes less than 1 minute to change w/ 1 1/16" socket. I would be furious if this happened to me, OH WAIT, IT DID, TWICE! I just had to fix it myself!
