I found a great detailing idea on my 95, I dont know if all 2nd GENs have plastic inner fender liners but this is what I do and it looks the best. One day after I washed my truck I was spraying my tires with BLACK MAGIC tire foam and desided to spray the foam on the plastic inner fenders to see what it would do. It turned out to be amesome. This was several months ago and I have found that the foam lasts longer on the linners then on the tires. The dirt seems to come off better if it even sticks at all. I think next time you all wash your trucks just give it a try and let me know what you think. I know you will love it its cool CRIS

I saw that trick on that show "Trucks" awhile back. I tried it on my Jeep that I used to "wheel" quite often and it worked like a champ. Aside from looking better it truely does keep the mud and grime from sticking. Tire shine also works really well on keeping the plastic trim on the front bumper, rear bumper, tailgate, and door handles looking new too. Door handles are slippery though I wouldn't do those.

Oh yeah it works on just about everything under the truck as well. It will wash off road grime from everything under the body. Shines everything up real nice, good if you were gonna show it or something, just make sure you take some degreaser and a pressure washer down there first so you don't try and shine dirt!
**** crankcase vent covers our babies with grime no matter how much you clean.

I knew I wasen't the only one doing this! But maybe we have told some people who didn't know and thats the great part of this site. Teaching and learning is the BOMB, together we can make just about anything easier and or better.

If you have I good idea let everyone know, just because you might think its simple and you think everyone else knows it that might not be true. Let us know your ideas it will help everyone.

One good product to spray on the truck before going in the mud is good ole wd-40 we use it on our motocross bikes and works good the mud doesnt even stick

Thats what I'm talking about, These little ideas may not help all of us but the people it does thats great. There has got to be more people out there with little ideas that can help us. No idea is to small, post them they may just help someone.

I use amsoil silicon spray on my plastic and amsoil metal protectant spray on my motor and other metal on my MX bikes. Unless I let it sit a week after a race the mud and grime will rinse right off. I'm sure WD40 does the same but I get the amsoil stuff pretty cheap. Also will make your motor on your dodge look like new. degrease and rinse the motor and spray on the previous sprays on the metal of the motor and the plastic and wiring and it shines like new. It lasts quite awhile too.

Does that metal protectant make everything under the hood shine? I'd like to get my under hood to shine. But doesn't the silicon spray end up cracking after a short time with the heat under the hood? I've seen some cars that had some type of silicon sprayed on them at a used car lot that started to crack and chip off, maybe some cheap stuff. Keep them coming.

I just finished using phosphoric acid on all the rusted manifold and turbo pieces. Puts a hard black shell on any rusty iron. Looks a lot better than the rust. This acid is contained in Rust Cure or like products at any auto parts store. An old trick but worth repeating. Watch out for paint surfaces, it WILL stain permanantly. This shell is also, paintable.

As for the inner fenders, I usually use armor all, its about the only place I do use it though, as its nasty stuff when it comes in contact with anything.

I always use phosphoric acid on the sheetmetal of my cars during restoration, that is the most importain step to keep the paint on the car. I do the whole car after its been striped even if its not rusty. Its a good idea to use it over all your bare metal.

Just want to put my 2 cents in...I am an auto detailer for a ford dealership up here in CO, and just want to warn you a few things regarding the tire shine. It will work great on any plastic or vinyl surface but make sure you do NOT get it on your paint, and if you do, immediatly wash it off with soap and re-wax the area that was hit. I don't know the exact chemical that is in the spray can but it can eat through some paint rather quickly(few hrs). There is a reason why the professional detail shops will not use products such as that and that is one reason. Also, if left on chrome for extended periods of time you will get "permanent" spotting. By permanent i mean that most say you can't get it off but with the proper chemicals you can fix almost anything. If anyone has any questions about stain removal or fixing exterior damage just let me know and id be glad to help.

The amsoil silicon spray is simply that, a spray. It makes plastic and rubber look almost wet. It does not leave anykind of hard shell that can crack. The most noticeable is the parts will be a little slick until they dry fully. The metal protectant acheives a similar result. The metal looks wet, but after touching you will only feel a slight film, which eventually will go away. Both great products.
About the tire shine, I've seen it eat paint before as well. Most people use so much it reallt looks bad when it's thrown all over the side of your freshly washed truck. I think it's Meguires that has a product called hot tires or something like that and it will not fling! Really great stuff, wouldn't use it under the body though expensive
