Da puddy cat is in its basket!!!!

Puddy cat is home, purring, rubbing my legs, arching its back and wanting attention. :P

Love it. Just flat love it. Wondered how different the HO would be than the auto I drove. Touch the pedal and hang on - - the torque is great even with no load. Can't wait to put 16000 pounds behind her. Quiet, smooth, the steering is so quick and sure, and the ride, even on the one ton dually, is excellent.

I see what the guys are saying about wind down between gears. Since I did not have a diesel straight before I don't know how to compare it. But, I found myself just slowing down a bit between shifts. The shifter is a little stiff but quite sure in hitting the right gear. Clutch and brakes feel very tight - - no slack.

I was very happy with the feel of the seats. This is the Laramie package with full power and leather. I was disappointed with look of the seats - - they don't have the full luxurious look of Chevy, but they sit better. Guess I would rather have a good feel - - my butt doesn't really care what they look like. I cannot drive the truck with the seat all the way back and I am 6'4". I could still ride in the back behind my seat if I needed to. The sound system is great.

Spent about 30 minutes with the diesel/Viper mechanic. He pointed out the tranny is synthetic from the factory. He recommend going to synthetic on rear end at first oil change. He has bombed his father's 2000 with all kinds of goodies.

All in all, I am tickled. Can't wait to get some goodies in for it like the Jake brake and some body color running boards, etc, etc, etc. I like it, guys.

Sorry, I gotta go - - something is meowing. ;D ;D

RidinHighBob

;D That's outstanding, Bob. ;D

Just to rub it in, you should be mentioning you had to run the air conditioner too, eh? We're smack into Fall here - shutting things down and putting away the yard toys.

Enjoy your truck.

Best to y'all
Bill

Re:Da puddy cat is in its basket!!!!

Sorry for the delay in answering, you guys. Hopefully you know how it is with a new puddy cat. Had to sit up with it all night, scratch its gear shift, play with it mirrors, rub its seats, listen to it purr. Wow, I'm having fun.

Had her out some, today. Mostly reading that manual and trying to find everything. Love those moving pedal thingys. Wifey thinks that will entice her to brush up on her clutch skills (the truck, guys, the truck ). I must say I am more satisfied with every mile driven. It can be so tame and does not feel like a big truck. Very sophisticated. I am wondering how much influence Mersoodles has had in this. Just hang on if you push the gas down a little too hard in the lower gears - it winds up in a hurry once that turbo starts to wind. Can't wait to hit the road with her tomorrow. Mileage is looking good on the computer for puttsing around. Really neat to watch the heads turn on other pickups when they see the new front end, then see the duallies, then see the big "C" on the front fender. One Ford guy came up, passed me, rolled his window down (yeh, AC is definitely on down here), shut his off and let me pass him so he could hear it. Caught up with me at next light just wanting to hear it run - - or, not hear it run, whatever.

Hunter, big guy, you should have it by now. Hope you have as much fun as I am having. Catch up with you guys next week.

BigKidBob

Re:Da puddy cat is in its basket!!!!

This is a ps to above post. Forgot to mention it before. I was surprised when I saw my truck. I ordered the Laredo. The ring around the grille is body color, not chrome on the Laredo. Had to get used to it I guess because I was not expecting it. It has grown on me. I would think some who felt the grille had grown a little too big would like the effect this has - - pretty cool. It is sort of in-between standard and the sport.

Just was out in it again for a spin and supper. Like it better than three hours ago. You know what??? I think I am going to like this stupid truck. :P

TickledBob

Re:Da puddy cat is in its basket!!!!

Bob,
Great to hear that it has lived up to your expectations ;D It makes me want mine all the more. Could you please do me a favor? I just got my VIN and I'm a little concerned about it. What is your 8th digit? Mine is a "C" and "Smoke" is suppose to be an HO. Not sure if the "C" means a standard or HO cummins. Thanks, and enjoy

The Boss Hog
Re:Da puddy cat is in its basket!!!!

Put a couple miles on the puddy yesterday. Ran about 300, mostly interstate. Have a total of 360 on her now. Reset the computer before hitting interstate - - varied speed between 60 and 70. Mileage was at 18.1 when I pulled into the hotel lot. Not bad for brand new. Loved it on the highway - - this thing tracks so straight. You sure better make sure you are not close to a car if you hit the gas - - it jumps 10 mph before you can get your foot off the pedal. Scarry.

Fun watching the "other" duallies pull up beside, look it over, pull forward look it over, drift behind look it over, then come back up near the hood, lower their windows and lean out to listen to it. Then, they signal OK and go on. It sure is quiet on the road - - can listen to the stereo real well.

Globalremarketing - - glad to hear of the report on the towing. Can't wait until I get home, spray the bed, get the hitch in (if someone ever learns how to do this little task) and hook up. Should be fun.

So far its a definite thumbs up for me.

HappyBob

ps: pics will follow when my son gets my digital camera back to me.

pps: eight letter in my VIN is L. Must not be the HO option there.

Re:Da puddy cat is in its basket!!!!

Anyone get their's with a big burrito in the exhaust pipe. I can just see some hombre puttin his burrito in that 4 inch pipe to heat up the chilis, then taking the baby for a quality control test drive just before siesta time.

FiverBob, you sure are spending a lot of time writing. Put some more miles on her, she's lonesome when you are peckin at the keyboard.

Hitch installation should not be a problem since DC has given their ok to drill and weld. Examine the frame, you will see welds all over the place. A good certified welder who installs hitches will do a clean job for you. 8)

Hunter, Eighth place in VIN is the Engine, ninth place is a number or letter called check digit.
