Just seen that http://www.greatlakeoffroad.com/ makes Disc Brake Brackets for about $55 a pair. Then add about $220 in new parts (Rotors, Calipiers Pads) The complete swap looks pretty good.

Only thing I don't like is no e-brake.....

Anybody try them?

Im pretty sure the chevy front calipers and the cadillac eldorado calipers are interchangeable and the caddy ones have a parking brake.

if you use caddy eldarado calipers u can use the e-brake. Haven't done it yet but I want to

The Caddy brake calipers have a cable e-brake provision. Anyone who wants to do the rear disk conversion should visit ramchargercentral, there are more than one disk conversion How-To's on that site. Some of the bracket suppliers have questionable quality and some are acceptional, Buyer Beware.

I looked into this a bunch and am getting ready to order those from GL Offroad also. They are correct about the Eldarado calipers working. When I added it all up, I think I was at about $230 total. I don't think that included the brake lines though.

So are you telling me they use the Metric GM calipiers with this kit....(Monte Carlo/Eldorado).... Heck I run those on the rear on my Toyota!



Now granted I have the proportioned WAY down to keep them from locking up.

The brackets EGR supply are very substantial ~




The Eldorado's calipers work just fine on our trucks, no different proportioner needed.

I believe that brake caliper in that photo is for the other side. The bleeder screw is on the bottom. The bleeder screw MUST be at the 12 o clock position to get the air out when you bleed the system.

So are you ditching the rear ABS when you do this conversion?

You are correct, BUT, having the bleeder mounted in the correct position would mean having the caliper mounted down low, possibly in harms way. Further, the parking brake cable sticks out there like a sore thumb, and could very well be damaged.

It's common in these installs to mount things as such. I noticed in the earlier pic up above, his is mounted the same (however I notice his has the bleeding port installed up top, different application? P/N?). In my case, you have to remove the caliper from its mount to bleed it effectively. Having done so, it works quite well.

BC847, That makes sense.....I was afraid you didn't realize it was upside down and I didn't want to see you bolt everything up and not be able to get a good pedal and rack your brain trying to figure it out..........Like I did once along time ago. It is obvious you know what you are doing....sorry about that...
