Well winter is almost over so I dug this truck out again. and started finishing up a few more things and towed some stuff.
Up first rear Speakers into the stock rear housings.
First I pealed the original speakers apart(there is no going back with this one) being carefull to keep the spacer portion in one piece.
Shell left
then set the factory speaker spacer in to space the tweeter of the new speaker back from the grill a bit.
Then you cut the old speaker up to use as a hold down bracket.
and put the new speaker in place.
I found a set of screws that worked perfect on the bench at the shop so you will need to find you own sizes for that. A spacer under the speaker mount might not be the worst idea in the world either.
After doing this I have to say the rear speakers are the ones you really hear in an extended cab and these sound much better than the 20 year old stock set.

Just over a year later it's time to get the truck back out.
Since I haven't been updating this thread very well I'll go over the last year first.
Broke the rear axle, and replaced it.
Got a steering plate made (still not installed).
Picked up an exhaust (still not installed either, waiting for trans)
The trans also lost 2nd gear syncro when the axle let loose. No picture of that though.

Now for the current rash of dollars to being spent.
Like I mentioned in the last post when the rear en blew I lost second gear syncro. I've had a NV5600 for a while now that I planned on installing when I did the body, cash flow prevented that. Now with the 5 speed broke it seemed like a good time. This is going to take a while with waiting for parts, fabricating, and the amount of time that can really be spent working on it.
I seriously considered rebuilding the g360 and putting it back in for a quick fix but a partial tear down ended that plan. The 1-2 synchronizer assembly is broken and the thrust washers are all kinds of crushed on the counter shaft.
This is how I expect it to look for the next several weeks.
old trans is out now the work begins.
and the parts

Now that you've driven it some, how do you like that dash pod? is there any glare/reflection at night?
How many miles were on that rearend before it blew?

Thanks guys I'm really liking this truck ended up putting about 10k on it last summer despite being gone for 2 months.
The pod is great just wish it had a couple more openings. I also mounted the factory tach(out of my other truck) next to the pod. It's a very natural position for me to look at going down the road and I look at those gauges far more often than the in dash ones.
The rear end had fresh bearings about 8 before it broke and everything looked good at that point but total mileage is unknown. I replaced it with a Power Lock unit and that appears to be a much better design than the open diff. 4 pinion gears and the cross shafts are trapped instead of held in by a roll pin. I think the roll pin that holds the cross pin was the true failure in my truck.

Thanks for the update. I have a 4 pod with no base so I guess I'll try and make that 3 pod work, which fits my number of gauges. Glad there is no glare.

Little more progress but I really want to start driving it again the salt is off the roads and I'm still in the air.
First off the setbacks
It turns out the trans I bought had the case repaired before under all the road grime. I thought it would be okay but after holding fluid for a week it started leaking bad, sat in the same spot the entire time kind of strange.
Then the engine plate I had was for a common rail not a 12/24V. Here's a picture of the two bolts that don't line up.
Then on to the progress.
Picked up an engine plate from the same place I got the cab in Kentucky. (great dodge truck yard but I won't post the name unless someone tells me it's okay)
Got that and the flywheel and starter on.
rest of the clutch
After weighing my options and selling a 6.0 chevy I had for a future project another nv5600 rode home in the trunk of my car(I really want to get this truck done).
Cleaned it up and gave it a rebuild in a can(fresh paint).
I also drilled and tapped the case where I plan to mount the 4x4 shifter. No pictures of these steps though.
Every once and a while my inner hillbilly comes back out. The engine crane wouldn't fit around the trans jack and that's the only way I had to lift this monster. So I got the trans in the center of the truck lowered the truck over it and chained it up to the frame lifting it high enough to get the trans jack under it.
Now it's in the tunnel and that's all for a while again life's busy and I'm broke.

I found a thread of someone putting a 5600 in a 90 that required cab trimming, so far this hasn't been the case with the 92. The only thing that makes sense to me is the taller frame or maybe worn engine mounts.
Not a ton of progress but cross member is all drilled and mounted
Also while the trans has been hitting snags I've been working on the steering. The box was leaking and the plate was poorly repaired a while ago. So I picked up a reman steering box, and cleaned up the frame. I'll be installing the custom steering plate that I had made a while back.
couple pictures of that stuff.
