Cummins in an 84 ram 350 4wd

I am considering buying an 84 Dodge ram 350 that presently has a 360 with auto tranny in it. Would it be easy to put a cummins 4bt in this? Would it have enough power to cruise on the freeway at 70 mph? Any guesstimates about how many mpg it would produce? Would an nv 4500 be a good tranny to connect to it? I heard that a few years later the ram 350 had a 5.9 diesel as an option.

I don't want to do any booneycrashing with it but want to be able to go camping down dirt roads pulling a tent trailer. I also want the 4wd for better traction control in adverse weather.

Any suggestions?

If you get the mounts from a '89 - '93 Cummins powered Dodge it will pretty much bolt in there.

4.10's and down would be OK gearing choices with the NV4500 if you want to cruise at 70. If you plan to tow with it run the 4.10's, go lower for better mileage.

I'd expect mid 20's for mileage.
