cruise control not working

it does nothing at all. this is a 1993 5spd truck. the cruise has not worked since i had it and im just wondering if there is a likely culprit. i searched the sticky first, nothing on CC. searched for "cruise control" on the forum here and found little, mainly stuff to do with the trucks that have a finicky cruise with an auto trans. i came acrossed instructions for testing the system, but i could not find them again and they arent in the sticky. wondering if there is a usual suspect for the cause and a place to start looking.

These electronic controlled cruise set-ups are a PITA if you ask me. I have run the old cable driven, vacuum operated cruise systems that mopar used form around 68-90's with nary a problem. But the electronic unit I have on my crewcab (93 donor truck) is still not working right.

Find the service manual checks and start there. That is the easiest way to identify the part(s) that might be bad in the system.

Cut some PVC pipe at different lengths and place them in between pedal & seat.

Thanks for this. I lost "resume" a long time ago and now have lost cruise all together. Was thinking about bypassing the clock spring all together but I will try the test procedure you linked to first. So annoying not to have cruise. It keeps me out of trouble!

That would give me a variance of about 50 mph up and down hills!
