If you have a donor truck it's fairly easy you would need a 4x engine cross member it does not need to be a diesel one gas will work also you will also need t case and 4x tranny .most of the holes you need to bolt front spring's up are already on the frame just make sure it's squared up .took less then a week to convert my old crewcab to 4x4 and that was working on it after work but having a donor is the best way to do it makes swapping thing's over alot easier .

I would do that in a heartbeat. I had a chance to buy a mid 80's mint chevy crew cab but he wanted to much money. I always was a chevy truck guy till I bought my 89 10 years ago. I think a cummins chevy crew would e very nice.

My dad has been doing these body style chevy trucks for 30+ years and if we could ever find a crew cab shortbed chevy in this body style from the rail company. we'd definely scrap our rust free 91 and use the engine and drivetrain for the repower

I don't think Chevy ever made any crew shortbeds in this body style, every one I've seen has been custom.

I looked a long time to find mine, got it out west. Completely solid, could use paint and a Cummins... These trucks are my favorite body style, especially GMC's, I like that grillle better. There's a VE Pumped Cummins, NV4500 and 29 spline 205 waiting to go in it if I ever have time. Its hard to make it a priority when I have Dodges that already have the right engine in them.

I have a few questions for those of you with factory built Dodge 4x4 shortbed single wheel crews. What is the factory GVW, are they considered W250's or 350's, and do they have the beefy tall frames under the cab/bed like 92-93 W250's do? How are the front and rear 60's geared typically, w/ auto or 4 speed manual trans'? What is the typical going rate for a reasonably straight/solid one? These trucks have the same wheelbase as a club cab 8' bed firstgen, right?

a gasser W350 usually has 4.10's in it. maybe 3.54 if somebody special ordered it. the wheelbase is the same as a club/long bed, but the "hump" in the frame is in a different place. ive seen a couple guys make sort of a body lift for the front part of the cab when they do the body swap onto a club long bed frame. before i bought my crew already swapped, i was watching them on the gov liquidation site. i was gonna buy a W350 with ratty interior, bad motor and trans, but it went for $3k and there is a buyers fee on top of that.
