Crankshaft Position Sensor Conundrum

Ok, Still trying to help my Uncle track down issues with his 01. Was running real bad and throwing codes for ECM issues. Got a rebuilt ECM and its running better, but still has a momentary, split second loss of power at higher RPM's. And now the tach is gone crazy. The mechanic that is helping him starting hunting down sensors to try and eliminate the issue.

Changed the Camshaft position sensor, issue not resolved.

Was going to check the Crankshaft position sensor, and couldnt locate it, so they called me for advice. After describing where to find it, behind the starter, they informed me that is is not there. They said that there is a hole there for a sensor, and that was covered with a plate, but no sensor installed, and no apparent wiring harness that would plug into the sensor.

What gives. Did some of these trucks not have this sensor???

Thanks for the help yall.

some where in 2000 they stopped using them ,I have had a few early 2000 with them and later builds not have them 01-02 wont have them
I would be looking for a bad wire or connection
