Counterfit Fleetguard oil filters?

HI All, I just got some LF3894 filters from thedieselstore.com and am wondering if they are the genuine article. The printing on the filter says made in India, I called Cummins and they said they are made in Minnesota. They did say they have a plant there but it makes no sense to ship the statapore media there and the finished filter back here. Did I get ripped off? Does anyone else get these online marked "Made in India"? Thanks

counterfit fleetguard oil filters UPDATE

I did not have the mfg and date code when I called Cummins yesterday. Today I was assured that they are genuine and under 6 months old. They said that when a line shuts down here, the Indian plant will make some for the USA. I am still wondering if any of you have gotten ones from India. I also learned they consider ones over 3 yr. old to be condemned or at least don't advise using them.

Good info on the use by date. Never heard that before. Wonder why it is?

Interesting info on the date. I'll have to check my filters. I bought quite a few at one point direct from Cummins with a discount so that me and some friends had a stash of filters to use. But considering I only change oil twice a year, I don't go through my supply very quickly.

Counterfit Fleetguard oil filters?

When I asked about the life of filters I was told the rubber seal even under perfect temp and humidity can fail after 3 yr. And we keep that stuff in the hot/cold garage or shop. Honest distributors return them for destruction before that date and strive to keep from overstocking to keep them fresh I was told. The date code is Julian, mine was 11355 meaning 2011 355th day of year.
Still wondering if you guys have gotten any from India

I'll have to check my spares when I get home from work to see where they were made.

The stuff about the rubber seal failing after 3 years even under perfect conditions sounds like BS to me, but I could be wrong.
