Hey guys I was wondering you what you guys thought of the south bend con o clutch vs. dial a clutch. Dial a clutch seems to be a lot cheaper then south bend but which is better in your minds. thanks -Anthony

I am running a SB Clutch and I'M very happy with it. The 1st Gen's had a noticeable launch shudder problem. Since I put my SBC in I have not had a single launch shudder. You may beat SB's prices but you can't top their customer service. Some of the things I've seen Peter do redefine customer service. In the long run if you have a problem you will see what I mean.

Someone else said it. You get when you pay for.
Just ask Dial-a Clutch if their clutch with get a 1 ton dually to chirp the tires in 4th gear at 35 mph.
THe Con OFE is an awesome clutch. It's help just about everything I've thrown at it. And it shifts and feels smoother than the stock clutch.
SBC all the way.

what about pulling a sled. Will a SB clutch hold up. I have heard that they will do the same thing as my centerfoce. They get a glaze on the clutch material and will never hold that same again. Just something I have heard. What is a good pulling clutch to use. I'm looking at a dual disc clutch from Enterprise engin performance. I have heard that they are the best.

Peter had developed a pulling clutch from what I understand.<br>In interest of safety, I don't think he'll sell one unless you have a scatter shield or tranny blanket. <br><br>Can't really blame the guy for that.

SBC is a great clutch for trailer pulling and racing!<br><br>But for Sled Pulling, Yes the Dave Mitchell (Enterprise Engine)<br>Pulling clutches are awesome!<br><br>Both of these clutches are totally different animals for their purposes.<br><br>--Justin

So far the Mitchel pulling clutch is the top dog in the pulling arena. I dont have much data on the clutch, but the peformamce of it so far is top notch.
The Southbend clutchs are the best dern street clutchs I have ever driven, but have a HP limit of about 550.
Joes modified Sachs is by far the only clutch that can hold 600 plus HP with ease and still have a sprung hub to keep vibration and harmonics down. It drives kind rough and is not for everyone, but will hold the power, street or dyno. I dont mind the way it drives but some of the guys like smooth as silk engagement with a light pedal.
Joes clutch is not for sled pulling either. The facing just wont allow it to be slipped long enough to get the weight moving.
I have been working with Joe on a modifed version of the Sachs that can be slipped, but it still is not a primary pulling clutch like the Mitchell dual disk is.

Ya know Chad, I would not deny that Van and Patty do build some great products. I just have never heard of the Haisley pulling clutch. As far as I know there may be ten other good pulling clutchs out there.
I have few ideas on clutchs too, but have not implemented any yet.

edit- I wanted to add, I like the JVD box that Haisley is using for the 24 valve engines. I really like the ability to have them (JVD) custom program the parameters to what you want.

Who you callin Chad??<br><br><br>Haisley's clutches are very popular. Alot of hot pullers run Van's comp clutch including Kent Crowder,Don Quaethem,Ed West,Wade Wright and myself. That's just a few.<br><br><br>

I thought you were Chad, sorry for the confusion ???<br><br>As far as the Haisley clutch and tractor pulling all around-I know enough about both to get me into trouble. Im sure Van can build or design a good one though. I actually want to get one those 1 3/8 input shafts made up from him for my 5- speed.<br><br>Don~<br><br>
