Clock Spring question

I need to replace my clock spring (93 W250 tilt/w cruise). I know they do not exist new any longer and there are several other dodge ones that will work with cutting the airbag wire. I have found quite a few that have another 2 wire connector. I believe this is for steering wheel radio control. Could anyone verify this and will it be a problem to just cut those wires also? Thanks..

Have you tried taking yours apart and repairing it? There is a wire ribbon in them that you can cut back and reconnect.

Mine looks pretty messed up. It would be a lot of work to fix

You can use one out of a 2nd gen, but you will need the connector out of the 2nd gen.

The ones I am finding have the same connector but just a few extra wires. Just trying to find out if I can eliminate these wires

Thanks, I found one at pick and pull from a 92 Dakota, it looks exactly the same. If it does not work I have an angle on a few new ones

Put in the Clock spring from the Dakota adjusted the brake light switch and what do you know Cruise control. I have not had a horn or cruise control for years (after putting in the borgeson steering shaft and letting the steering wheel spin). I also put in a new drag link and king pin springs and bushings. The steering has really tightened up. I should have done the tie rod ends, I will get to them in the future. 250,000 miles, I think it's finally broken in! Thanks to everyone who has posted info on the site, it makes working on this truck easy...

They are not too hard to replace. You just need a set or security torx bits. Once you have those it's just pull the wheel and plastic covers and have at it.

Can you still get these units new?


Anyone know about availability on the steering wheel mounted cruise switches? O'reilly told me it's a dealer item, dealer said they're extinct.

Dealer did however say you can stilll get the speed control servo. It's been redesigned, so he claims. About 107bucks for a new one.

Shows in stock, and even in the standard parts catalog on their site, but I've not been able to get one yet. Always comes back NA.

You want to make sure the wiring plug is correct on the newer cruise servo. The one my wife's 02 Concorde is exactly the same...except the wiring plug on the servo is different.
