bringing reloading equipment through canada

Yea, you do not want to bring them with you. Ship them to yourself to avoid the hassle. We only allow criminals to have guns in Canada. You cannot even defend yourself up here anymore with anything or the criminals will charge YOU with assault!!! Even if they are in your house and you give them a licking, they will charge you.

u.s mma, You can most definitly bring your ammo, reloading equipment, brass, primers, long guns, and certain handguns with you through Canada. I moved out in 2005 and am going back to AK in June, and have researched this and spoken with the Canadian Firearms Center multiple times.
You are allowed 5,000 rounds up to and including .50 BMG; 5,000 primers, and I believe around 18 pounds of powder (I don't have the exact amount handy on that one).
Here's the link you need, and the contact for info:
Feel free to PM me, and I can forward you the emails I've had with them.

Thanks Moose10, you beat me to it. Reloading equipment and supplies aren't a problem. I moved back to AK in Dec '07 and brought a bunch of reloading equipment and ammunition through with no problem. When I moved out of AK in '04, I brought almost 20lbs of powder though, and had no problems at customs that trip either. So long as you stay below the number of rounds you'll be fine. One thing to consider though; a primer counts the same as a loaded round of ammunition, so be careful not to go over or you'll end up throwing stuff away at the border. It's also a good idea to have the paperwork showing you shipped/mailed the guns that use the ammunition you're carrying. Makes it less likely you'll actually get searched. Have a fun trip, and welcome back to Alaska!

You can caryy long guns in a vehicle up here as long as they are unloaded, locked and in a case and out of site. If in a car they should be in the trunk, in a truck in the back seat on the floor or behind the seat. Handguns cannot be carried with out a travel permit for the date and time of the trip.
