OK,

In Maine we have crazy Auto laws.... so I want to put after market wheels and tires but they "CANT" stick out.
I know the stock wheel is 17x8 so here are my questions:
1) What is the best backspace and offset for a close to stock set up....
2) What is the bolt pattern I need for this truck I know its 8 lug...

I am sure after looking a little that I will have to run a 17x9 wheel, but thats fine its the thing sticking out I cant have......

P.S. I just today bought a set of BFG KM2's 35X12.5X17

6" is approxximate factory bs so get as close to that as you can 5.5 is somewhat common and is good 4.5 is bad and sticks way out

Centerline has wheels that might fit your needs. They have them in 17x8.5 with 6" backspacing or 17x9 with 5.25" backspacing. The 5.25 might stick out a bit for your laws though. Dang those are strict laws, can't do much in the way of mods can ya?

Oh yeah the bolt pattern is 8- 6.5"

The rims listed below is what I have now and they struck out. Bushwackers Flares solved that.

Yeah pics would be nice as that is one of the style of wheels on my short list, they do seem to stick out a bit more so a few pictures would be awesome.

Your definetly gonna want to stick with a positive offset and as close to 6" backspacing as possible.

American Racings website has good definitions of terms like hubcentric, and how to calculate offset using rim width and backspacing.

How crazy are they about this law in Maine? Would having fender flares prevent a ticket/failed inspection?

Yes, I the real world fender flares would be enough but if they wanted to be bum holes they can ticket for any tire 2 sizes larger than stock....
