The fan motor on my '93 with A/C doesn't work on high most of the time. When the switch is on high, it blows like low. Is you switch from 3 to 4 enough times it will work for 15 or 20 minutes before it kicks back to low.

Is there a relay for high speed somewhere? I assume it just has bad contacts?

Blower switch is bad they dont last to long. Might try the Jim Lane mod. in the sticky and put it on relays. I havent done this yet but I have changed my switch twice in the last 3yrs.

Dodge truck fan switch is known for smoking. Connector usually gets hammered too, and if you don't deal with that and just install a new switch, it'll fail about 45 minutes after the warranty is up.

If you check the handle on the fan switch after it's been on high for a few minutes, you'll find that it is quite warm, or even hot.

The high fan motor current goes through the ignition switch, a switch in the heater controls, and the fan speed switch. All three switches tend to trash because of it. Relays move the high current around the switches.

You could check the blower motor resistor too, usually isn't intermittent though. Access is behind the glove box either in the cowl or top of the hvac lid.

Likely a switch though, IIRC power windows and blower motor share a fusible link

yes they do, beleive its the 10 gauge Pink with Black tracer.

mine does the same thing in the process of doingJim L. relay addition hope to be done in a couple days, will let you know what i think

If the blower motor is 20 years old, replace it with a new one. Old motors draw more current due to worn parts, from what I've been told.

Then all you need to do is just put your switch on low or medium, and fuggetabout it. I never put my switch on high just for this reason that you guys are talking about. At some point, I'll be doing the relay upgrade as well, but for now, this works for m.e

found the 75 amp relay at NAPA $54.00 plus wiring accesories had 30 amp relay laying around $100.00 investment well worth the time and money Thanks Jim
