heater location
My new 2011 does not have the cold weather package but it has a block heater minus the cord. I had to buy one from the dealer for $57. The heater is on the engine block just to the rear of the oil filter and a little lower. It's round and has a black cap on it. It was easy to put the cord on from under the truck.

I have a 2011 and looked behind my oil filter and, BAM, there is was covered with a threaded black plastic cap just as you said. Can you tell me the Part Number you got from Dodge? Also, How did you run the cord once you installed the harness?

I discarded the package so I can't give you the part # but I hear they are available on the afertmarket or from Cummins for less than you local Mopar dealer. I routed it to exit the grill by the right headlight. I just made sure there was no tension on the cord and it was away from any exhaust or heat sources. It came with enough wire ties to secure it.

Thanks. I actually found the MOPAR part, brand spanky new, off of ebay last night for 33 bucks with shipping and all. It looked a little better than the aftermarket ones plus it has plastic fittings that slide right into factory locations. I will update when it arrives. Thanks again

Gentlemen, here is the update to my install. First off, I purchased the MOPAR Part#1-56051181AB off of ebay for almost double what Geno's charges. I can tell you that they are almost the exact same part. I chose to get the MOPAR part for 2 reasons. #1 Warranty as an OEM part, #2 it had tabs on it that automatically routed themselves to the frame as soon as I hooked it up. INSTALL: Extemely easy. I crawled my 6'7" 255lb body under the truck, took off the black cap, plugged it in, screwed down finger tight, and routed the cable directly through the bumper to the passenger side tow hook. Then I Ziptied it facing the ground to avoid excess moisture getting into the plug cover. Also, due to the recommendations of "madhat" I bought a digital plug timer to plug it into so it kicks on 2hrs before my departure. The weather where I am gets to around 20 mostly so I installed so the truck did not eat gas while idiling. Consider it my Christmas Gift to Global Warming Reduction.
