Those new IH's are awesome lookin. There's 2 sittin at our local dealer, just the regular Lonestar's not the H-D editions. I've been wantin to stop and check em out...I'm not a big Intertrashnol fan, but I'd drive one. I think they would make a sweet lookin wrecker.

That thing is heavier than a hookers heart! 22k curb weight? DANG! My 98 Pete only weighed 16k. Truck and trailer empty I weighed 30k and could load 50k of cattle.

take it to the dealer and have him remove the speed limiter. Probably what was done to your Pete too. First thing I did with my Pete was to uprate the motor and remove speed limiter.

Be helpful, too, to the general reader who's never ridden in a big truck as to what "acceleration" means when loaded. Some fleet truck with a "mileage motor and nine-speed driven by a steering wheel holder versus an owner-op with a big Cummins with a better trans, either of them coming out of a rest stop onto a crowded Interstate: shift skill and power against road, load and conditions. Experience makes a real difference.
That truck would be a pain to keep clean. Ghetto (though that would be Harley consistent). Heavy, too. I never had a tractor that weighed over 18,000. How do you make money with an extra 2-tons of bullcrap stuck on it?

International is all my boss has ever bought for us to drive in the 27 yrs I've been driving for him. Maybe I could talk him into one of these for my next truck to haul fuel with. He has bought me Harley Franklin Mint Bikes for gifts over the years. This would just be a step up in Harley goodies. LOL
Oh & with pulling 105,500 lbs of truck & trailer & fuel we don't use no stinking clutch.

Hey tankeryanker,
Who do you work for? I used to work part time for Walsh trucking but with the downturn in the wood products industry the last few years they had no work. I have been working part time for Pacific Car Crushing the last couple summers hauling crushed cars and loaders. I have a black sleeper cab Pete and pull 2 or 3 axle 48' step decks, 53' swing door step deck or a 40/20 A train. We get around OR/WA quite a bit when work is good so I'll keep a look out for ya. Slow now so that is perfect for me not to be working. I'm going Steelhead fishing. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Sorry that cornbinder is just ugly imo, like most IH's are. Drive an IH and you better have a good radio to drown out all the rattles & squeaks. Like the ole saying "ain't no feelin like petermobilin"

Call me slow, ok. Just looked at the write up. All I'm going to say is....another reason I dropped my subscription years ago to Car & Driver. The author did no favors to us "PROFESSIONAL" drivers.
