Best programer

Hey I am in the market for a new truck. Looking at a very nice 01 6speed 4x4I know gauges are the very first step. I know smarty is very good on the 03 and ups. Just want to know what everyone else thinks is the best programer for the 2gen cummins.

You mean there's another programmer other than a Smarty for the 2nd gens.
I'd say Smarty is probably the best, although I've never tried any of the others, but I'd buy another if I had another 24valve 2nd gen or 3rd gen.

Edge juice/ attitude!! I love it, and you don't need big ugly gauges blocking your view. Turbo cool down, gas mileage setting.
Can't beat it.

Yeah I like both the smarty and the juice I have heard both are great. The more I think about it I think I'm gonna end up with the juice because of the built in gauges. I love analog but for the money i think it is hard to beat the juice. And with a baby on the way money will be a little tighter so I think the juice might be the best way to go so I dont have to buy gauges on top of the smarty. Maybe latter if I ever have money again. Thanks for the input.

all you can get out of a programmer on a 24v vp equipped truck is around 40-60 hp. Where as on the CR's you can get closer to 200. dont get your hopes up for massive hp, but the drivability is greatly improved with the smarty. If you want all out box performance you'll be better off looking into a tst comp or something of the like....

Oh and make sure you check the fp on that truck!
