best 1 time injector cleaner?

I want a heavy dose of injector cleaner just to satisfy myself. I always use PS(white bottle in winter) at fillups, but since my truck idles more than most, I would like a heavy 1 time dose to see if it helps my smoke before shelling out some cash. I have heard about prefilling the fuel filter with some types of cleaners, but want to see if one works better than the other. Seafoam says it works in a diesel, but im hesitant. I have used it in gassers and love it.

Any opinions? Thanks

HOWES meaner cleaner lubes and cleans availably at truck stops and big truck parts store. My truck was sooted up from small trips and poor maintence of PO blew brownish soot for 2 tanks befor she was cleaner 1 litre treats 950 litres of fuel or in the imp 1 quart treats 950 quarts rated "superior "by Cummins L-10 test Specifications this is the info from bottle in hand 4.8% fuel ecnomy improvement/65% reduction in injector deposits/35% increased lubricity-injectors,pumps and upper cylinders/80%emissions reduction-stops the smoking/Cleans tanks and fuel lines/Corrosion inhibitor-stops corrision in engine fuel systems/Fuel stability-eliminates sediment formation/Eliminates water/ Also for farm and marine diesels. Iget it at the Western Star dealer about $13 a bottle. Howes has been around since 1920 a lot of the otr rig drivers swear by it. just my $0.02 worth. oh and must inportant in the directions " add to fuel 1 litre to 950 lites" [ i get 10 tanks worth 1/10 bottle to 100 litres ]it states OVER USE IS NOT HARMFUL so you can heavy dose a few tanks

Don't fill the fuel filter with power service! I saw a guy do this once on a bobcat. It was still hard to start up even after the all lines were bled (as it was run out of fuel). It ran like crap for a little while and the guy who owned it gave it some more fuel to help push what he thought was air in the lines, then BANG! backfire, black smoke everywhere. It took a second to comprehend what had just happened. Smoke was coming out of the air filter, the oil light came on, SHUT IT OFF IT'S RUNNING BACKWARDS!

Lucas make great products, I,d try thier injector cleaner, mixed per label directions.

I prefill my fuel filters all the time with Power Service fuel additive. My reasoning is I have additive in the garage more than I would diesel fuel.

Bill, If you saw that happen you would be leary too! The bobcat was a N/A motor which might be the reason for the backward running. I know for sure the PS caused it as after the incident we dumped the filter, filled it with #2, bled out the PS and it started right off. The problem never occured again.

Anyway the injector cleaning process is somewhat slow on most types of engines. It usually takes a few tanks of treated fuel to do the job best. BG makes an excellent diesel injector cleaning product as well I hear.
