Question Bead locks????

I have never run or messed with bead locks, but I do know how they work. My question is, the ones I see on TV only seem to lock the outer bead. I saw a set one time that had an inner bushing to lock the inner bead but only once. What good is only locking the outer bead? Unless I am stupid and never noticed them locking both??????????

While inner beads will unseat at times, it's pretty unusual. It's usually the outer bead that unseats.

exactly..

Plus you can get "hummer" beadlock which do lock both outer and inner beads.. the rims are a 2 piece design with a magnesium or plastic inner piece that holds the beads together.

there are also a few companies that do make outer and inner bolt on beadlocks.. but you have to get a bigger rim like a 17" to clear brake calipers.

they have a price list on their site somewhere, but you can get them in pretty much any size you want. and if you want a custom pattern, say a big Cummins C in the rim all the way around, he can make it.

Staun makes an internal beadlock system. I have weld on beadlocks on my jeep, but my dads jeep has the staun setup. pretty pricey, but if you trash a wheel, you can pull them out and reuse them on another wheel. They are also DOT approved. Oh, and they on 16.5 wheels, and we both run about 5-6 lbs in the rocks... Something interesting to look into for sure...
