I'd make sure I had a good spair tire for the truck and trailer. While you are at it, make sure you have a lug wrench for both, and a good jack. Maybe I'm just too stupid to worry about too much else.

Sorry to hear about Daisy.
The first sign on list would be fuel filters, as in several. I'm not familiar with where you're going or what your fuel range would be but dirty fuel will ruin your day especially in the boonies. Of course and tools especially some method to prefill the fuel filters with known clean fuel. You can get Napa, to make a positive battery cable for you. A good set of jumper cables. An extra air filter. A spare for the trailer and make sure your spare is aired up. If you haven't done the headlight relay fix our consider doing that before the trip as it makes a big difference in the brightness of the headlights. I'm sure there's a hundred other things that can be added but there is a limit to which want to carry. Have a great trip. Just my two cents, Mike.

I have 3 extra NAPA gold fuel filters and 1 air filter. Spare tires galore. the headlight relay fix is on the list, though I'd do it not for brightness, but to eliminate the possible altogether failure. You just don't drive at night in Mexico -at ALL- unless you have no other choice. I'll have to check with NAPA about building a battery cable. Didn't know they did that... Keep 'em coming. Good advice, all. Thanks, H. Last edited by BC847; 11-11-2011 at 03:39 PM.. Reason: Language |

Serpentine belt water pump idler tension pulley upper and lower radiator hose few spare hose clamps A hose splice to bypass the heater hoses mechanical lift pump spare fuel filters...more than one u-joint for driveshaft optional stuff I would think about... wheel bearing grease and the tools to repack bearings Make sure your steering box mounting location isn't cracked already tie rods and steering linkage in good shape ball joints in good shape more than one spare tire or a good plug or patch kit Have a good trip, let us know how it goes! I have been wanting to take my truck down on a baja run for years.

Are you saying that all the Gen 2 Ramchargers defected to Mexico?!? I'll keep an eye out! Thanks for all the good tips gents. I will give a full report. The image in the OP is in AZ north of Quartsite headed for Yarnell Hill and Prescott on the way home to Cottonwood from San Felipe in, uh, lemme think, January of 2009. I'll give a full report when I get back. We're looking at Mulege, about 600 miles south of Tecate. Sure to be an adventure! H. |

we used to go down the Baja for years only trouble we had was tires you might want to take a couple extra tires for the trailer a fan belt and fuel filter. we never had a issue with fuel it was always good. but between rosario (spelling) and the bay of los angles we had to find fuel it was like 250+ miles between gas stations.I have heard that a new pemmex station was build somewhere closer now. but like I said tires .

Extra bulbs for both trailer and truck. As said a good jack, jack stand, and wrench. Dodge also still have the factory cables(well about a year ago they still had them). Go over the truck real good before you leave. In my humble opinion I would not carry a whole parts store with me. If you don't already, I'd want a pyro and fuel pressure gauge to watch the truck with that trailer on the grades. Have a fun and safe trip!

I would also bring a long piece of 3/8 fuel line with you and some nuts and bolts. A spare fss wouldn't be a bad idea either, when they go out it usually shuts the engine down.

Oye! Casador, No te preocupes porque tu sabes que los Mexicanos se pueden instalar un distribudadora de Toyota en un Cummins y funcionaria.
