Where is Auto Shut Down Relay Fuse?

I just brought home a new to me D350 reg cab dually with flat bed. In half decent shape with a few issues.

Number one is it is not charging. I have traced it down to no 12V going to the Auto Shut Down relay. When I jumper 12V to the relay she charges right at 14V. So the question is where is the 20A fuse that is shown on Pg. 8A-14 of the '93 service manual? I have looked all through the manual and cannot find it. All of the fuses in the "fuse block module" appear to be good, although I have been fooled before.

Thanks,
JP.

The ASD relay gets power right off a fusible link, there isn't a fuse as such. Sounds like that fuse link is blown, look for a crispy wire on top of the driver's side wheelwell. Should be red unless it has blown before.

What is the purpose for the automatic shut down relay.
Would this keep our trucks from starting?
How should we be able to start up in an emergency like when we might be away from home?

Thanks, Tom

The ASD relay supplies the current for the alternator field. It has nothing to do with the engine starting or running, only with the charging system. It gets its name from the fact that it automatically shuts down the alternator field when the PCM says the engine is not running.

The PCM will also drop the ASD relay on a auto truck when it sees a WOT setting. Then when WOT throttle is released the PCM turns the ASD back on.
