Zoom zvt clutch

I ordered a Zoom zvt stage 2 clutch kit tonight. It will be here on Thursday, and hopefully I will have it installed this weekend. I wonder what it will be like to be able to floor it in 4th and 5th gear Here are my questions- What is the best way to break in a ceramic button clutch? I know some say to take it easy the first 500 miles so that the clutch facing doesnt get glazed over. I also hear of people who drive their truck like they stole it, and have had no problems. My other question is, does a flywheel have to be resurfaced before being used again? The new clutch comes with a new flywheel, but my old one is going into a friends truck with a new clutch. I just want to make sure, so we wont have to do it twice. Thanks, Joe

it doesnt have to but it would be a good idea with any new clutch so you dont get a vibration or a chatter.

What does the Zoom clutch go for pricewise? How much hp will it hold? Isn't it a single disk? Just curious as I emailed them for information, but never heard back from anyone. Hope it works well for you, Matt

PS. yes, turn the flywheel

It is a single disk. There are 2 versions- stage 1 and stage 2. The clutch holds more as the rpm's increase. The stage 1 will hold 650tq at 2000rpm and almost 800 at 3000rpm. The stage 2 will hold 1200tq at 2000rpm and 1400tq at 3000rpm. I dont think I can talk about prices on here, but if you want I could pm you with more information.

On a side note, I found out today that a new flywheel is not included with the kit from the place that I ordered mine from, and they want a lot for a new flywheel. I told them I would have to check around on prices for a flywheel, and I would get back to them. When I was checking around, I found a guy that builds custom clutches for a lot less than the Zoom clutch. I think I will have the store that I ordered the Zoom clutch from, send it back and I will be going with a custom clutch. If there were more people out there running the Zoom clutch, I would probably go with that. Besides, now I will be able to say that I have a custom clutch made specifically for my truck

As long as you're not selling the clutch you can mention prices.
Come on now, spill the beans

I hope it is ok if I say where I got the price from. Advance Auto- $649 with my discount, and that was supposed to include the flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, pilot bushing, and alignment tool . Without flywheel, I think it was 5 something, but not sure.

I seen them for 829(I think or close to it) from summit racing for the ceramic, I am still a guinea pig. clutch should be in by next weekend(in the truck that is). napa carrys them as well as the advanced stores. flywheels are not part of the package. they do sell them however. I know a local company that will swap out surfaced stock flywheels for your 40bucks.

If you ordered part number 1192sk($829) from Summit, you will be getting a new flywheel with it. Part numbers that end with sk include a new flywheel.

unfortunately, these engines don't make peak torque anywhere near 3000rpm.

I'd be wary of saving $500 on a clutch that you have to replace with a thousand dollar clutch... better to just do it right the first time IMHO.

I hope it works out for you, but the ONLY clutch I will ever put behind a Cummins is a SBC... it's also the ONLY clutch manufacturer you'll never hear a bad word about.

I know that South Bend Clutches are some of the best made, and I know that they have a great reputation. I just dont have the money for the clutch that I would need to get. Unless they could cut me a great deal, then I would be all for it. I would love to be able to put a SBC sticker on my truck Or 15, if it brings the price down

How about sledpulling heavy loads?
Anyone going to try to sledpull with the zoom?

I am interested to see how well it holds up to the TSTCR box
