what is your DD?

my 97 has been my daily driver since i bought it. it been a great truck, till winter comes. then, as long as, i plug it in and give it enough time to warm up, its great. recently ive had some addtions to my family and i find my self counting pennies far more often then i used to. the gas vs diesel is an old, emotional, argument that never satifies anybody. i ask, instead of this argument, that you state what you use as a daily driver and why.

My DD is a 2000' Kawasaki Concours, and I live near the coast in Texas. Truck only gets out to pull the fifth wheel, or on Really rainy days. Reason is motorcycle is a lot more fun & gets much better MPGs.

Unless I need to haul something or drive a long distance I drive a '82 Toyota pickup with over 300k miles on it.
Paid $5200 for it brand new.
Driver's side door hinges have been replaced three times but the engine has never been touched.
I drive it because the diesels are made for working, not just hauling my butt around.

OP sounds like you need to move south. The truck won't act up from the cold and you can drive it all year long. Problem solved

Kidding aside, my truck is my DD. We have one dog and no kids. I've been half tempted to get a regular cab short bed truck for tootin' around. But I don't drive much anyway (less than 8k/yr) so it is silly for me to have two vehicles. Love my truck and plan on keeping it forever.

The 97 gets most of the miles. The 02 T&C minivan gets the town trips to the store, easier to park than the 08.. It gets duty more in the summer towing the TT.

After finally getting back to the states My 08 is my DD. Just turned a hair over 60k this week. Man I missed driving this thing. Get to delete it as soon as I finish this A&P class and find a job.

My 94 in summer, winter, whatever. I fixed the AC, gave it a LSD, a radio, and tuned it for great mpg and fun power. I will miss it dearly when the cab rots off the frame. 240K on it now.

02 Crown Vic P71 for me. The Ext cab is more of a pain around town then it really should be.

Plus the Vic is just transportation, no emotional ties.

Mine is the '06 in my signature. And it'll be my DD for many more years. In about three weeks, I'm gonna have Dynatrac free spin hubs put on, and some new rubber all around. Hopefully, while doing the hubs, not to many extra surprises will have to be taken care of! Trying to make this truck last for years to come!

With the price of fuel, I ride my 06 V Star. It gets 45-55 mpg, and you can't sneeze at that for the 3500 bucks I paid for it.
