You wont believe this dealer mess up !

Wow. I wonder how he sleeps at night knowing that he just screwed Dodge out of thousands of dollars and the rest of us next week wonder why the dealer won't warranty a lift pump. Not that I wouldn't take a new truck, but I'd have to be a weee tiny bit more honest. Good luck him if they ever figure it out.

A buddy of mine has a 2005 Dually 4x4 single cab w/ab 28,000 miles on it . And his brother has an 05 2500 . He was wanting to see what a chip would do for his truck so he took the one off his brothers truck. The thing was he didn't un-download it . So when he put it on his truck bam the computer or something went out . After taking it to two different dodge places they could seem to figure out what happed to it . So they called in a "expert" from Dodge in Michigan. After investigating it he ruled it a manufacturers defect. They didnt even catch the chip. So today he picked out a 2007 Dodge Mega Cab 3500 3x4 dually loaded , and dodge gave him a HUUUUGE allowence for his old one and on the 2007 he only owes $21,000. Is that crazy or what !

I'll ride the fence on this one. I have heard of this happening to others, the ecm, and the chip manufacture fixing the ecm for them. He got lucky with the dealer. I am glad that he got a deal on a new truck, but I hope that they do not figure it out and stick it to him later.

This... Strikes me as very immoral. Dodge wasn't wrong in the slightest, especially not for thousands of dollars.
I don't hope he gets caught, but... I wouldn't mind seeing it happen, either.

Somebody around here has a line in their sig that goes something like "Three people can keep a secret...if two of them are dead". If your buddy gets caught, I wonder which list he'll put you on.

So much for honesty
I still dont get it in this country when some think it is alright to pass the problems that they cause on to everyone else. Who do you think will pay for that allowance? We all will, with increases in the price of parts and even less ability to explain real problems that are true warrenty issues.

How do you know it was the downloader that messed it up, I mean hundreds of people every day put boxes in thier truck and if this happened to the majority of them than I know I woulden't have one. I personnally will never ever ever take my truck to the dealership.
