Yet another 47RE problem
I have been fighting with the fluid level in my 47RE. The fluid is foaming when at the full mark on the stick. I tried dropping the level slowly and to stop the foaming the level is low enough that the tranny starts slipping.
This morning I stopped for a few minutes and left the truck running in neutral. After starting back up it would not shift out of 2nd. I pulled over and shifted into and out of park without shutting the truck down and it ran fine afterwards.
Any connection? Ideas?

also... try rebuilding it with a master rebuild kit......they are one of the simplest trannys to rebuild......the master rebuild kit can be picked up for about 125.00 dollars..... they are the same kit as the old 727 trannys........ the only hard part is you will need to press down on a spring in one part to get the snap ring out....this can be done with 2 c clamps and some good ole hand strength.....everything will come apart so easy and go back together with not much hassle.. just lay things out on the bench in order as you took it off and it will make it easy to put back together... just when putting it back together get yourself a tub of gear grease/ball joint grease to use to hold some of the loose stuff together when sliding things back together..... make it easyer... i wish i could post a pic layout on how to rebuild these trannys... they are really that simple......i have rebuilt mine 3 times this year from different stuff shattering when under to much power.....but once you replace all the weak parts these trannys are truelly bullet proof when built right...

I have mine a quart high and its not foaming at all. But i do have a slight leak on the input shaft seal. It drips out the inspection plate. Hey storx is it hard to replace that seal in the front of them? I have a full goerends but im to far away from them to do anything but fix it myself.

Mine foams too. I have no problems though. I did an exchange and it shifts smoother. Other than that it is still in good shape at 67,000 miles. Hope it will do another 67,000.
