what was the last year of production for the 3406E before they went to the ACERT engine?

and the N-14 before it was ISX?

Caterpillar intruduced Acert technology to meet EPA '04 emmissions.

Yes, Cummins N-14 was what it was called before they redesigned & renamed it ISX. DOHC and everything related to it was probably the biggest change from N-14 to ISX.

The bridge engine come out on 10/02 with the smart waste gate, these engines were bad for fuel mileage and high exhaust temps, software changes and fuel number changes cured most of that, and they could only goto 525 hp. But I think the best 3406E engine is a 6NZ peffix engine.

6NZ being the C15 engines. Up to (and over) 550 hp.

The ISX, originally built as the "signature 600" engine, was rolling down the road in 99 - 2000.

I just had a look at the Cat SIS flashfile site and there are no 717hp files nothing over 550hp, usually there are emergancy applications that have higher ratings. Does that truck have pittsburge power on or some kind of mod?

Oops I should say that is for truck applications, I did miss a 600hp for truck and founsd an 860hp for an industrial engine.

Off road GENSET engines were tagged C16 with twins at over 900HP. Would have made a hell of a haul truck, with VERY low MPG....

I knew i should have taken a picture. its classified as an industrial offroad engine. its a brand new engine still on a skid on the floor. I flanged up the new Allison to it at a customer site.

The cold start gen on the last Nabors AC drilling rig I was on was a 900hp C16. there was 3 of these 3512s for main power.

I worked for 2 years for Nabors drilling here in alberta. Previous I built well service equipment and built lots of stuff for sanjel. now that I work for the detroit dealer. I've done some field calls to their stuff. but since the patch has died this year I've only done a couple calls to sanjel.

this one went up to work the north slope. Heli portable double.

I was working hydraulics at that time. we usually turned out these heavy triples though.

When I worked at Crown Energy technology actually, there was 1 blender we built for Sanjel. was moving 115 m3/s of water on the test stand. At the time that was the largest blender sanjel owned. and the biggest 1 we ever built. proabaly 7 years ago now though.

They still have their old 149's pump trailers then? We have repowered several over to MTU's.

not so many sanjel fracs around these parts. I think up north they have a bunch. but in southern alberta BJ has tons of 149 frac still on the job. we work on them all the time. I did fuel rails and water manifolds on a BJ 149 DDEC not too long ago. theres one in the shop right now getting the Allison overhauled.

one thing about the isx is you cant do counterbores. get a shortblock or full replacement. used blocks can be had but they dont garuntee the counter bores. got one right now and i feel sorry for the driver. 23000 or so forthe replacement but he cant afford labor
