What year did the fold out tow mirrors come out?

Was it 99, 00? Or did they put any on the 98.5s with the introduction of the 24v?

I'm not 100% sure, but I wanna say it was 00. I remember going out and seeing a profs new 00 truck and he said that the dealer told him that was the newest thing--folding mirrors. But, like I said, not 100% sure.

I believe that it was '00 also. They were not available for the '99 and we purchased them in '00 for mine from the dealer.

Im not for sure what they run ,I think there somewhere around 100 ea
I have them on mine and only tilted them out once ,If you do tilt them you have to readjust them , They work ok but in my opinion they arent any better than the old style, I have a 30ft gooseneck horse trailer and dont think they make much difference , also you can give up going through the bank drive without pulling one in , Mine have scratches on both sides from banks, and one mail box at 70mph they are pretty tough though,

TEXASTURBO, sorry man, I gotta laugh at that "mailbox at 70mph" did the mirror destroy the mailbox ?
You guys are talking about the mirrors that stick out like a foot from the truck right all in a black plastic housing right ?
Anybody want to trade for the short sport style ones ?....heated & power.

At the local Dodge dealer in California they wanted $300 each for the folding towing mirrors. I know because our driver's side glass in the mirror was broken by some vandal. You can't get just the glass from the dealer, they sell the whole assembly. A couple of wrecking yards had used ones for $150 each. One thing to look out for, at least on ours it was this way, is when adjusting the glass it tends to pull away from the plastic backing plate. The glass is held to the plastic by six spots of RTV adhesive. I dang near lost the passenger side one adjusting it. Before installing the assembly remove both the flat and spot glass with a putty knife. Clean off the old RTV and reapply new across the entire surface. I haven't had a problem like that again.

Moose , all it did to my mirror is put a crack in it .
A better story than that is my friends Dog a blue healer was riding on the flat bed and a Powerchokes Mirror knocked him off at about 50mph on a narrow bridge. It didnt hurt him but now he doesnt look around the cab as much and if he see's a truck coming he moves.
And yes it smashed the hell out of the mail Box it was one of those you can put 4 sunday papers in kinda like a minivan on a stick .

Does anyone know how to stop the regular heated powered mirrors from fluttering when you go over 30 mph?

Are the tow mirrors for the third gen trucks the same as the previous years?

Also, are all the tow mirrors the same? Will the tow mirrors for 2000 mount on a 2001? And will the 2002 tow mirrors mount on a 2000? etc
