XDP additive- Where can I get locally? SoCal
I'd like to give it a go and see if it works. Is there someplace I can get it locally between San Diego and Ontario? I called XDP and they said they did not have any local "dealers" but some shops do carry it. He did not know which ones.

Save your money. Go to their website and download the MSDS. It's more solvent than anything just like most of the additives out there (makes your fuel dryer). And like most, it's going to do everything for everyone. Additives are a gimmick! Lots of info on this forum for you to make an informed decision. Do a search on here for "additives" (titles only).

Whenever fuel changes it brings the snake oil salesmen out with all kinds of claims in order to get to get your money.
Now they are preying on the misinformation that ULSD is low in lubricity when in fact it has just as high of lube qualities as the old fuel.
Reminds me of the scammers who took advantage of the removal of lead in gasoline years ago.
The only fuel additive you really may need is anti-gel for winter protection in the cold states.

I recall Cummins saying that poor quality fuels promote deposit formation, carbon build up, corrosion that will impact injector performance, fuel mileage and emissions, so if person can't get quality fuel then would it not then be smart to use fuel additives to improve the fuel that in turn should help keep the fuel system clean and lower carbon in the combustion chamber.

I don't see how fuel quality in the US varies all that much since it all comes though the same pipelines, is stored in the same tanks and hauled by the same trucks.
Except for a few isolated cases all the diesel in the US is basically the same.

If you are buying diesel from a station that has any volume, then you will be getting good fuel.

I agree. And, on top of that, it is questionable if the additives do what they claim- they may in fact do nothing to increase the quality of the diesel. How do you know? Many folks will claim this or that, but in my experiences, I have not seen any appreciable, seat-of-the-pants improvements. Including mpg increases. How can you really tell that, to be honest? We all drive a little different from one day to the next- even an exceptionally windy day will affect your mileage. So how can you honestly tell if you have increased your mileage a percentage or two? I can't.
