Wow, pretty awesome! Questions though?

Hello all, just put in a Commander and XZT for towing. Gotta say, pretty impressive...
Also added a MBRP 4" system at the same time. Perfect sound! Was worried it was going to be to loud go down the road, but it's about perfect. It could be a tad bit quieter, but it's not gonna kill me!

Got 3 questions though.
First, what boost should I be seeing? 2004, not a 2004.5!
I'm seeing 24psi max on the commander. Is that what it should be?

Also, is there anything I can do to get my EGT's down? It's pretty easy to get to 1400 which by most accounts is a bit to high. I should be staying under 1350 from the research I've done on the site.
Those are my only mods to the truck. Don't really want crazy hp, just something that's good for towing!

Oh, and lastly, I notice that when at idle, I give some throttle and let it come back down to idle and there is a stumble at the point that it goes back to a flat idle. Anyone else notice this with their XZT?

Thanks all and I'm loving my Dodge and this site!

Jeremy

Are you towing when you see those numbers?

You done anything to the intake side yet? Getting more air through there is gonna help. Getting rid of my grid heater help some, keep the revs up will drop 'em some as well.

There's always twins.......for the very rich.

Have not towed yet. Just took the truck out for a drive today for the first time with the stuff.
Are the intakes really helpful? I thought people said they really don't do that much of anything for these trucks!

Buy a Quadzilla boost fooler. That should gain you a little more boost which will also help your egts. Also, as was stated, either do an aftermarket intake or at least put a high flow filter in the stock box without the factory foam piece and cut the bottom and/or front out of the box.

Don't do that. The XZT already does boost fooling!

Your 04 doesnt have the electronic wastegate solenoid but a boost elbow would probably help with a little more boost.

I,ve never even hit 1250, not even towing. I have the adjustable boost elbow and my maximum boost is only showing up as 24 also. I thought that the outlook monitor was wrong on the boost, but I don't really know for sure. The instructions for the boost elbow stated that it was already set for maximum boost, but I never checked it to make sure.

The first and least expensive thing you can do is to put a boost elbow in or modify the vacuum hose on the wastegate. This will allow you to make more than 24psi. Stock trucks are typically wastegated to 23-25psi so you are right on target. I have seen stock trucks with a tight wastegate that will make more but, it is rare.

Once you do this you will see in the low 30's for boost and you will drop a good 150 degrees or more at WOT.

The next step is an intake system. There are a lot of good systems out there that will work. I would encourage you to look at our Monster Air Intake. It is all steel, fits like a glove and works well. Our website is wrong but, the Monster Air Intakes now come with a Pro Dry S filter made especially for us by AFE. For the price it is a bargain and works as good or better than anything else.

Can you guys point me in the right direction for finding info on the boost elbow and modifying the vacuum hose on the wastegate?

Thanks!

I'd kinda like to know as well. I have the system from the air box to the cold side of the turbo and that elimiates the tube with the grid that restricts air to the turbo, but I don't know if that's a boot elbow.....don't think it is.

I've modified the vacuum hose by pinching it and keeping it that way with a zip tie. Gives a little more, like 5lbs of manifold pressure, does some good on power as well as long as there's more fuel avialable.

Macman,

Quad was kind enough to answer a PM I sent him. He pointed me to this.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=120155248191

I ordered it, but I guess I can try what you have on yours as well and just pinch off the hose that's already on there! Wonder what boost level I'll get up to by doing that?

Hope that answers your question.
What intake system are you talking about because I'm curious now?

I have the Airaid big gauze filter with the top of the stock box removed and the extension that seals it to the hood and the replacement tube to the turbo, most call this a "torque tube", don't remember the actual part numbers. The tube is 5" and has no baffles inside so you get a straight shot of cold air to the turbo.

Quad's stuff is as good if not better than any, and if you're starting from scratch, go with Quad's products. He's done a ton of reasearch and developement on all his stuff. JMHO.

The boost elbow is kinda cool and pretty cheap as well as being able to adjust the boost, which my method doesn't allow. Shoot, for $20.00 get the elbow. I'm gonna get the elbow.

Don't forget that if you are looking at our Monster Air Intakes that they now sport a special version of the Pro Dry S made specifically for us!

They are a great filter and we are selling them by the truck load and everyone is impressed!

Tell me about the Pro Dry S. I assume it's not an oiled element filter, but are the dimensions the same as the oiled and is there a replacement pm schedule?

Thanks
