Would you trust a NEW gas station?

There used to be a Chevron station right in the middle of my town. One day it was closed down, borded up, etc... About 2 weeks later it is a Brand New VALERO station that now sells Diesel. The Chevron STation never sold Diesel. I have been learey of getting fuel there as I wonder what kind of shape the tanks are in???? BUt the Diesel is 30 cents cheaper there than anywhere else (3.30 a gallon) in SOuthern Calif.... It has been selling Diesel now for about a month... WOuld it be safe?>

i would imagine they had to install new tanks for the diesel. also in order to get alot of the fuels, they have to test the tank for h20 and things i think. just keep your reciepts

I just want to know where in SoCal you are getting diesel for 3.30? It's still around the 3.45/3.55 range in Temecula/Murrieta. And when I was in OC last week hauling horses, I could barely find it under 3.50. And I'm sure that there would be no problems with the fuel. Like said previously (no need to quote, his is right above me) the tanks are tested or replaced. And if there wasn't diesel before, then they had to add a tank. So you should be getting the cleanest diesel around.

Headquartered here in San Antonio. Valero is $3.29 to $3.35 here...

From www.valero.com

"Valero is North America's largest refiner and one of the nation's largest retailers. The company leads in shareholder value growth through innovative, efficient upgrading of low-cost feedstocks into high-value, high-quality products."

If they just put in diesel pumps then look for the new spot they sunk the tank in. If you don't see new concrete or pavement then I would be asking them where the new diesel tank was put. If they say they didn't put a new tank in then on down the road I would go.......... I love new stations with new tanks....... don't have to worry about all the crap in the old tank.

They may not have had to put a new tank in. They could have changed the "plus" tank over to diesel. Then have a "regular" unleaded and a "super" unleaded tank with a blender system to provide "plus". Doing that they can control what the octane is in the "plus".
As to "brands" of #2 diesel, brands on the sign of the station dosen't really mean you are getting brand "X" at station "X".
As for brands of gas, it pretty well all comes through the same pipeline. It becomes "Shell", "BP", "Chevron" etc when the additive package is blended into it at the terminals as it is being loaded on the transport.

You might want to "Google" Valero, even though the name sounds like it could be Venezuelan, it seems to be more like a good ole USA company.

The $5 an hour clerk is not going to know if a tank was installed or replaced during construction.
