Would you recommend this lift kit?

Ok guys. I made another post about getting my truck lifted. I am not really up to par with whats what in this industry so please bare with me. would this lift kit be a good choice for mostly highway driving with the occasional light offroadng at the deerlease and what not? I am not going to be going crazy offroading so I dn't need top shelf stuff. Just want something that looks nice, and functions with my needs.

http://www.4wheelparts.com/Lift-Kits...&t_pn=SUPK823B

I would like to run 37's but not exactly sure what size wheels would fit without rubbing, if you got any advise or help with that question please let me know.

And what would be a reasonable price to pay for installation? And before you say do it yourself, I am deployed right now. My wife wants to have my truck done for me before I get home. If that kit is decent, should I opt to add anything that isn’t in the kit?

I found the kit at 4wheelparts.com any feedback with them? Good bad? Better price elsewhere?

As far as bringing on possible problems later, are the stock brakes capable of handling 37's or do they need to be modded or upgraded any?

What about drive train? Anything more likely to burn out or break because it can’t handle the added stress?

Is it necessary to install ladder bars or anything?

Steering, drive shaft, u-joints, or brake lines jeopardized?

I would say it will be a good lift. Superlift makes a good product and it should fit 37's no problem. If you get it from 4wheel parts get them to install it too. I havent ever used ladder bars so thats your call, I would drive it and add them if needed. You will probably need brakelines and driveshaft mods too. Where ya at in Japan?

Thumbs up

You won`t need anything else...it`s a complete kit. You don`t need longer brake lines or new driveshafts.

As with anything that`s different from stock , you will wear out parts quicker with larger heavier tires...how much quicker....who really knows? I wouldn`t worry about it unless you planned on wheeling it hard everyday for years.

I haven`t dealt with 4Wheel Parts personally , but have hear good and bad about them . I think it all depends on who`s actually working on your truck ( IF you have them do the install...I would ). The price seems reasonable to me.

Good luck

Awesome, thanks man. Now I got to find some reasonable wheel/tire combo. I picked out some that was going to run me 2500... I wasn't expecting that.

37's on a 6" lift is possible but you NEED to get proper backspacing. I have 36x13.50 Iroks on with my 6" lift right now, and they rub the front valance pretty bad, because the rims have such little BS, not sure how much, but they stick out 5" past the fenders.

I am not impressed with my superlift dual steering stabilizer mounts, 1 winter and they are full of rust, look older then the suspension on my truck! Also heard their springs are bad for sagging.

IMO Tough Country lift, it is quite a bit cheaper, spend the extra money on a new track bar, Bilstein shocks, and a good steering stabilizer. Other then that most kits are very similar. Also, that price is quite a bit, check out Top Gun Customz, basic kit is $789 I believe. Also Tough Country powder coats a lot of their pieces, Superlift, Rock Crawler, and Skyjacker don't (don't ask me how I know!)......

I have that exact Superlift kit. 4wp did the install too. I'm running 37's on 20s (cant remember the back spacing)... had some minor rubbing on the front of the inner fender, but nothing a dremel couldnt take of
The kit is complete, and nothing else is really needed, but i suggest you get a steering brace cause youre probably going to end up junking a steering box or 5...
That and the brace will help take away the "wander" the truck tends to have with that kind of lift...

4wp, like any other company is going to have it's good and bad... The 4wp close to my house has "salesmen" for employees.... the guys at the one across town seem pretty knowledgeable and take an interest when talking "shop"....I drive across town when i need something....

Right on guys, thanks for the advice. Anyone happen to know off thier head what back spacing would be needed so there is no rubbing? I would rather not cut anything.

4.5" or so would be a good number. 6" is stock and would work to, but hard to find aftermarket rims for that, and a 12.50 will barely stick past the body line and would hit your control arm at full lock. 4.5" should have zero rubbing.

In order to use 37X12.50X17 tires on your truck without contacting the control arms or the rear of the front fender you will need 17X8.5 rims wih 5.5" of backspacing. You may also be able to use 17X9 rims with 5.5" of backspacing if your cannot find 17X8.5 rims with 5.5" backspacing.

The steering at full lock to the right and left with that tire and wheel combination will clear the control arms by 1/4" and will also clear the rear of the front fender by about 1/2"

I have a Rancho 4" lift, and I use Hummer H2 wheels(17X8.5) with 5.5" of backspacing and those are my clearances.

tires to fit 17 in rims cost more generally right? Isn't a 17 inch rim kind of an odd ball size, even though our stockers are 17's? got any picts of your truck i can scope out?

Actually, tires to fit 17" rims cost less than tires to fit larger size rims. There is a very good selection of tires in the 37X12.50RX17 size.

Since you haven't purchased your lift kit yet, I'll also include a few pictures of the Rancho suspension.

Hopefully, this will give you a good idea of the clearances that you can expect with this backspacing/wheel size combination.

Thanks alot man. I appreciate it.

I was looking at Tuff Country kits on ebay. They have a kit with SX-8000 Nitro Gas Shock Absorbers. Are these any good?

http://www.suspensionconnection.com/...con/36005.html

The Tuff Country kit comes to just under 1k with springs and shocks. It doesnt list a trans drop braket like the SL kit. Is it something worth having? Is the 500 dollar differance justifiable in the SL kit over the TC kit?
