what would you do? vp44and LP...

vp44 is dead and i need to decide which of the many ways to go with all this stuff...gonna upgrade the LP too, anything else to address while this is all getting done, bigger lines? got a fuel pressure guage already.
some thoughts on a few ways to fix this, what do you all think?
Blue Chip for the vp or MWFI(they have a combo for $1500 w/ Fass)? seems to be the only 2 big ones out there right now? $1600 just for the vp from BC, I would go with the special x and thats even more $.

http://www.thedieselstore.com/templa...VehNum=1112598
could i use this and mount in the stock location with the stock filter?(still have that) and leave my stanadyne pump back on the frame etc...
or am i needing to look at one of the complete systems and get rid of the stanadyne?
http://www.stanadyne.com/docs/pubf/99795.pdf
this is what i have, just the head, pump and filter, it's a revere flow set up
do all these systems use similar or same hardware to connect lines etc...10-14 idle and 7-8 load
Airdog...?
could the ddrp be put back in the stcok location and leave the stanadyne on the frame with the extra filter?, that would be my fastest fix i think, just ad the ddrp back into the stock location and away we go...?
is this a possible set up? i dont know if you can combine pumps etc...?
http://www.glacierdieselpower.com/pr...=RP-100-D24-34
what about adding this back into the stock location and keep the stanadyne for filter and a bit more presure? seems alot of you are liking these, i will assume you just use the stock filter at that point? unless i can keep my other lp and filter in addition...?

MWFI & AirDog because it is $100 less than FASS & works well. Take bids on the combo at dieselbombers. Put it on a card in case you run into a problem with vendor. It's that simple.

I found a local guy to match DB price. You can probably get down around $1300 perhaps less. Check ebay to find lowest price as they sometimes post lower margin. Then you'll know how hard to push on price. Buy from someone you trust not on ebay.

Mine runs 15# to 13. You don't need more than that. You don't need the stock location. Pulling old filter frees up access to other things. Change the manifold gasket under the stock LP while you're there. Change the CKP when you do the VP. Change AD filters once/yr & you're done. Fleet Guard makes some that fit.

I forgot the fitting name that AirDog uses but it threads directly to the VP. Call them for details.

ckp - crankshaft posistion sensor. It's located underneath the injector pump. Some will say its cheap insurance to change it out while you already have the pump off the truck. Cost is about $50, I think.
AD filters - He's talking about the fuel filters on the airdog fuel pump.

Hope that clears some things up for you.

thank you, that does help, how do you know if that ckp really needs to be changed or it's just a do it while your in there no matter what
i have decided on what i am doing, a regular rebuilt vp44 and a fass 150/95 set up and eliminate everything else
guess i am going with MWFI since no one can touch their combo price for those 2 items

It would be a royal pain to install a new vp only to have to pull it a week later just to change out the cheap sensor.

You definitely want to change the cam postion sensor while you have the VP44 out. It will take an additional 2 minutes versus hours if it fails later. Cheap insurance on that one.
PS
I got my combo from MWFI and have been happy with it.

Actually, CKP is Crank Position Sensor which is located under the starter.

CMP is Cam Position Sensor located under the VP. My CMP was easy to change with the VP out of the way. It could also be changed with the VP in place. It would be helpful if you knew what tools are needed if you change it with the VP in place. Unfortunately, I forgot. I think CMP is held in with a torx head screw.

I'll try to push harder on price for the next VP I do. Start research on fleabay. I doubt I'd buy there because of the hassle if something goes wrong.

really got into the truck today and found out it does have a lp by the stock filter, it says it is a 16psi walberg with the stanadyne back on the frame, what is this thing? is it just another version of a carter pump? i didnt even know it had it and now i can be certain it went out and blew the vp since the fp went too low

i am now looking to do the fass 150/95 set up when the new vp goes in and eliminate all this other stuff

i have pics of it but my computer is being lame about loading them in photobucket
