Would These Wheels Fit a 98 2WD?

A fella called me this morning and is interested in my stock wheels that are listed on the classifieds right now. These wheels are off my 2001 2500 CTD auto 4WD, and unfortunately, I aint sure of the wheel dimensions.

His truck is a 98.5 (24v) 2WD, High Output, Auto Trans., Laramie SLT. The tires he is running are 265/75/R16.

Both trucks have the 8 lug pattern.

We are both unsure if stock wheels of an 01 will be compatible with his 98.5 24 valve or not on the tires he is using.

Also, he has to tow about 6 tons w/ his truck and apparently they bent his stock wheels he has now,

Thanks for any help!

They will not fit as is. You can do some mods and make them fit. These concern turning at least .125 of the OUTER diameter of the drums (I took off .200), and grinding the steering knuckles so they won't rub the inside on the rims on the front.
Been there, done that, on my 99.
While mine is a 4x4, I have no reason to believe that Dodge made the steering knuckles or the drums substantially different, just because it is easier to manufacture things as close to the same as possible.

Thanks, partner.
So, if I let him know this, you don't think there would be no harm in him trying it out??

Harm is a relative thing. You guys work out what you want. In the case of the rears, they just won't go on without mods. In the front, they will go on a little, but the wheel won't turn as you tighten the lug nuts. If you don't try to keep trightening after they won't turn, you will be fine.
