worth the upgrade?
I've been doing a little research on a new turbo set up, thinking about going with a 62/65-14 over an s475 but every where i see that setup everybody says its only good to 700hp. Why is it only good to 700 when my current BD setup(a 57/65-14 over an s471) has been pushed to 750 by a few and cool at 700? Is it worth the time to step up to the 62 over the 475 and can it keep up in the low 800s?

It'd be worth it, but only if you're willing to spend a little more money. I would be looking at a 62/65-13ss/62/71-13ss over a s480. You would have a better wastegate setup and the 480 will support more. This should keep you in the 800s just fine as long as everything is up to par. I'd give Nathan a call and talk to him, his opinion is gold IMO and he will steer you in the right direction.

Did they get all the wastegate problems fixed on the 13ss housings? I'm planning to just get the 57 comp wheel in mine swapped for a 62 with the race cover by ED.
I'm still tossing around the idea of going with the s480 but if the s475 will do a decent job with faster spool, i'd like to keep with a tighter matched quicker spooling smaller setup. Looking to be in the low 800hp range till people start cracking the 1000hp barrier that nobody seems to get past with the newer motors, then maybe step up to the big boy setup.
Pretty much my question is, will the 62/65-14 or 13ss over the s475 handle 800-825hp with managable temps and DP?

Its possible but i don't think it would manage temps while daily driving 800hp. For a drag run I think it would fare alright, a sled pull that depends on the driver. I think it is plausible.
As far as wastegate issues, mine has been fine, I believe the issues were dealt with well over a yr ago. Spoolup aint bad at all. It has broke in well.

So basically there's not enough difference over my current setup to justify the cost, with the s475 setup. Time to start looking for s480s again.....
thanks
