The worst sounding diesel EVER!!!

Has anyone heard the diesels on the new super duty fords?
It has to be the worst sounding engine I've ever heard.

I think it must be the newer diesel that replaced the 7.3L PS. I've heard several in the last month or so and they all sound terrible!!! It actually hurts my ears hearing them next to me. Not like any diesel I've ever heard. Sounds like screeching or metal to metal grinding (like bare pads on the disc brakes)

I wonder what they've done to achieve this sort of engine tone?

I used to think the PS diesels were ok, in fact I still have a '88 F250 non-turbo diesel and it sounds great and lots of power (it just uses a quart of oil every 100 miles or so), but I can't believe what they've done with their new 6.0L

I always thought the worst sounding diesel was #1 Emergency Diesel Generator on my first ship. If that darn thing came on at 0200, I knew it would be LONG night....

The worst sounding diesels, in my opinion, are 12V-71T Detroits with no muffler. You could hear those dungheaps running draw-works for miles.

Come to Mexico and listen to some of the older busses. The sound actually hurts the ears. They really can be heard for miles, oops sorry, kilometers. Also down here the trucks have the loudest engine brakes I have ever heard anywhere.

I've been to Venezuela and Bolivia many times. I think they bought Mexico's old, worn out busses. However, the bladed "Ben Hur" hubcaps are cool. ;D

Shouldn't the above request apply to our southern friends trucks and busses also? Just to be politically correct all engines now sound sweet regardless of brand or location. I won't comment as to which of my CTD engines Gen II or Gen III sound I like better. That is now only for me to know and you to find out. I sure wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. ;D

PS. I always thought big block gassers sounded cool, especially with uncapped headers.

I love them 2 strokes too. Those old Detriots built this country, they use to be in just about any piece of equipment you could think of. I hated it when I started cutting for a 4 stroke skidder you never knew where he was unless you were looking all the time. Those old Detroits 453s and 353s you didn't need to see them you could hear them over the saw, with ear muffs.

Re:The worst sounding diesel EVER!!!

The prettiest sounding truck I ever drove, and my ears still are weak because of it 1972 Brockway, V12 535 horse, double over 13 speed, twin stacks less than a foot from your head, 24 inch rubber (not 24.5), 50,000 pound Spicer rear suspension, bucket rears, pulling 36 foot dumpers, 53 yard at water level, crowned with wet beach sand. Yeah add it up, 220,000 pounds in a 71,000 pound state, Long Island, New York. They would run 68 to 70 mph loaded or empty and get near 2 mpg all day long (loaded or empty!!) They were beautiful trucks, a hood you could sleep on, chrome all over them, navy blue. Ran hundreds of loads from Brookhaven to Ryan Cement in Brooklyn. One weight stop was $3800 in fines.
