Wiring in aux. lift pump??

Hey y'all, I just ordered up a holley black pump for my truck, and I was just thinking of how to wire it up? I have a newer lift pump in the tank(10k mi; dodge replacement), and wanted this to be an auxillary(sp?) pump along with that one, in preparation for bigger injectors. Now how should I wire it up? Your not supposed to run it straight off of ignition hot right? That's what I have heard. It causes hard starting issues? My friend had his on a little oil pressure switch, so when the truck got oil pressure, it turned on the pump. Any ideas from anyone?
Thanks,
Tommy

I also have the in-tank fuel pump dealer replacement job. And I also added an aux lift pump. I just spliced into the power wires BEFORE the relay that feeds the in-tank pump. That way I'm not over loading the current relay and both pumps are controlled by the ECM. Which means both prime at start, then shut down intill engine fires up and both will shut down if in an accident.

I replaced mine when I worked at the dealer, while it was still under warranty. I remember having to add a whole wiring package under the hood that had a relay in it. Is that the one you are talking about? If not that one, could you tell me which one or where?
Thanks,
Tommy

Yeah, it is. The original stock pump plug feeds the relay you're refering to. The new in-tank pump gets it's power direct from the battery, via that relay. Well, I sliced into the wires BEFORE that relay.
