wiper motor

I keep blowing fuses as soon as I put them in. This all started when my blades froze to the window. I have a 1999 3/4 ton Dodge I'm guessing I shorted out the motor. Where is the wiper motor located and how hard is it to replace. thanks REG388

Buy a FSM.

You might look behind the front bumper. I understand strange things sometimes hide in that area.

Or it might be where they have been located for the past sixty years at least.

Wiper drive arms and linkage may be still frozen under the cowl cover at the base of the windsheild.

dozer12216 I checked the front and back bumpers no motor, it would sure take a lot of linkage to reach the wipers from these places. Don't ya think ? Lets try under the hood in front of the windshield, but it could be under the dash. just trying to save my self some time out side in 15 degree weather, where I'll be working on this. theres all ways an a$$ around reg388

wiper motor

smokewagon, thanks, I can move the linkage fine so I'm guessing its the motor. if its not hard to get at Ill buy used , if its hard to get at Ill buy new. So the motor is in front of the windshield under the hood want to guess cost and degree of difficulty. thanks reg388

Remove the wipers, then the black intake grill cover held on with plastic screws. I've never had to remove the motor, can't help you on that.

the motor is under the black cowl under the windshield between the hood and windshield not to hard to get at probably about fifteen to twenty minutes of the first time then the second goes alot easier my brother had two lying around so i'm not sure how much a new/used one is i would suggest to just buy a new one that way you know it's good unless you already can find one for a good deal... i don't think you have to pull the linkage apart just take the two ten mm bolts off the motor and then give it a wiggle and it should come out no problem
