winter idle
i was wandering how your trucks idle during the winter. when its cold out when i start my truck it wraps up to 1000 rpm and idles like that until i go to drive. or if it is a little warmer it idles normal then in a couple of minutes it wraps up 1000 grand.
my dads 03 his will always idle normal no matter how cold it is. then after a few mminutes his will wrap to a grand then after a couple of minutes it goes to normal and cycles like this until he drives.
since both are trucks are 03 how come they idle differnt. how should they idle..how does yours idle....

My 03 will do idle both ways depending on temp. PLugged in it will idle up in a minute or so and not plugged in it will idle up on start. Maybe your straight pipe is not holding quite as much heat under the hood compared to your Dad's? Every truck will be a bit different.

Your truck is doing what mine does, so I would say it is normal operation. Maybe your truck got flashed with a later calibration? Maybe your truck was built after your fathers and has a later calibration?
