Window Tint
I did a search and found many useful tips, but have a few ?s What is the stock tint, % and brand type. Does anyone know of a good reputable shop in NW Houston that does window tinting? Thanks

Can't help with who to use in Houston. Place I used in Austin said tint on factory back and rear door windows was not "film", it was in the glass. Went with the darkest shade of formula one they had for the rear doors and back window. Looks great!

I always look for a shady shop that doesnt ask questions, or give receipts. They usually do the best work from what i have seen, and at the best price. My brothers CC DRW was done for 215 dollars, 5% all the way around with a 7 inch or so brow on the front window.

Dee's Window Tint in College Station did mine for $120 Limo all the way with a 11" eyebrow. The place is pretty gheto but you cant beat the price.......
buuuuut the tint only cost $120 but the three tickets @ $230 each made 690 soooooooo .....
690+120= $810 maybe they are not that cheap in the long run
At least im cool

I got mine done at a windshield place. I asked the guy what the darkest he could do was. He answered legally? He said he could do limo but it was either cash no receipt or write it up as a windshield. That is the kind of place to go to. Mine is 15% front and 15% on top of factory on back windows with visor strip for 145.

When I had the fronts done in 35% on my 05, I asked the installer what the stock rear doors were and was informed that they are 25% and the rear is something like 17%.

Winner winner chicken dinner!
Thats funny, I got pulled over tuesday a.m. for my 15%. Cop said hes local and has seen my truck, and how nice it was. Then he told me to get it off this week or he would be stopping me again soon. So no more tint for me.

Ive got 5% all the way around and 2 layers over the back glass and an eyebrow. I've never been stopped when I get pulled over I roll all four windows down in hopes that they will not look at the tint and just write me a ticket for speeding.

Oh by the way the back windows are smoked not tinted but its between 20 and 25% hope that helps dont try to match it just put 5% over the top of it.

IMO 15% is as close to matching as you will get but you gotta think that the back glass is tinted and the windshield is not so that makes it harder to match cause more light is comin in the front than in the rear.
If I ever get around to redoin mine I will use 15 on the fronts, factory on the backs and 32 on the entire windshield.
