Williams to die

My Government has just made another judgement call to bolster my pride in it.
Two wrongs have never and will never make a right.

Anyone with a name like "Tookie" deserves to die.

No really, did you see some of the old 70's pictures of that animal? Looked like Suge Knight! Dude was like 295lbs. with 27" arms.

You wanna play, you gotta pay, that's how the game works.

I am glad the are going to kill him. Think of all the people he has killed or is responsible for killing. If you want to blame someone for home gangs started in Cali. this is the guy to blame. I can't believe it took them this long to put him to death. He is now going to be an example for why not to join gangs.

Someone tell me what we're talking about here so I can chime in with my opinion and get a good debate started.

Stanley "cookie" Williams was convicted of murder 25 years ago and Calif Gov Swarzenager just turned down his appeal and he will be "killed" by our Government tonite.
Being an advocate against capital punishment , I view this as another black mark against this government.
Seems we should let God decide when he wants a person to stand up for his judgement

The only part of the article that I have some questions about is the 'Founder of the Crips' part. Allegedly when the crips were founded Tookie was in prison and had nothing to do with the start of the gang. Regardless, he was found guilty and it's time to receive his just reward.

The media has also played up the part about him being a 'Nobel Peace Prize Nominee.' To counter that argument, Bill Handel a talk show host in LA had himself nominated by a congressman. That's all it takes is to be nominated by a national organization.

Well... the people he killed (and the gangs created and the people they have killed) didn't have much of a choice...

Kill 'em all...

Good. I'm glad he is going to die. Just because you changed while you were in prison doesn't change the fact that you killed a person. I'm glad the governator did what he did.

He will have to stand up for judgement no matter when he dies. The timing is irrelevant.

What people seem to NOT understand is that forgiveness of sins doesn't mean that you get out of the consequences of your actions.

I mean, if a guy gets a girl pregnant before they are married (thus committing adultery), his remorse for that action doesn't get rid of the baby, now does it?

The point being that Tookie can write all the kids books he wants and could become a real saint. It's irrelevant.

He's being punished for what he DID back then, not who he IS now!! Duh.

I'm not some sicko that delights in the death of a human being, but I feel there are plenty of times and cases where capital punishment is perfectly acceptable.

If Tookie is such a saint, he should accept his punishment for the consequence that it is. He should accept his own death and make himself a martyr for the cause of ending gang involvement.

Instead, he's trying to transform himself into a cause celebre, ala Mumia Abu Jamal.

Well Said, as always HOHN!

I think at the bottom of the MSN article I posted Williams says that there is no point in him arguing over this in his last days. What good would it make anyway.

Sounds like he's figured it out anyway!

O boy..... I have to agree with herb. The state is incapable of making the correct decision reguarding capital punishment. In the last century 21 people were put to death later to be proven innocent. In the last 5 years 11 people on death row were released after DNA proved them innocent. The system is broke, and we need to stop it. To me it only takes 1 innocent person being put to death to call it wrong.

If it were you sitting in the chair, knowing you did not do the crime you would hope someone like me would at least speak out against your state sponsored death.

I realize this is an emotional issue, one I'll get flamed on. But have you ever been wrongly accused and could not prove it?

However, life in prison without the possibility does not mean what it says either. A new judge could order a new trial and a new sentencing. So life in prison never means life in prison.

Because we (the USA) have a different opinion doesn't make them right. I don't care how they do it. I don't care how they control guns, drugs, prostitution, or obesity. A lot of Americans put way too much thought into what THEY will think and not what is right.

There is a cetian amount that we do need to concern our selves with others preceptions of us. But by and large We have to do the right thing for here! If you like the "other civilized nations", then go live there.
