Angry Why won't my aftermarket radio play???

Hey guys:

I just put my aftermarket CD player in the truck. I used the Metra harness and did exactly like it said. Hooked everything up, the radio powers up and plays, but no sound comes from the speakers! I know the radio is putting out because I hooked a speaker directly to it and it plays. If I stick the factory radio back in, it will play.

The funny thing is that on top of the factory radio it gives the schematics, and it is identical to what Metra has on the package.

What is the deal???

I have a 2001 and I do not have the Infinity radio....at least I don't think so, it doesn't say it anywhere on the radio.

Thanks!

Josh

The infinity system has a little 3 band equalizer on it. If your old radio has that then most likely you have the infinity system. Also check your door panel, it should say it around the speaker grill. If you do have the infinity system you have to hook up the power amp relay wire. The infinity amp gets it's information from the speaker out puts of your head unit. I think the relay wire is brown, but it may be blue (can't remember). Most aftermarket radios say this is the power antenna wire. Since we do not have power antennas just hook the power amp wire to the power antenna wire, thats what i did, works fine. You will hear a little "click" when you hook up the wire, and then wala, you will have sound. (be carefull not to have the volume up to loud when you do this, it will scare the crap out of you). If you do not have the Infinity system then all i can say is check your wires again.

Talking I GOT IT!

Wagontrain131, I cannot thank you enough! Thad did the trick. Hooked up the antenna wire, heard the click, and then I had sound. I have the Infinity system afterall. I guess the tweeters in the pillar is another give away.

It was really driving me nuts. Althought that's the nice thing about driving a CTD, if your radio gives out, you still have stereo...just roll the windows down!

I have read this board a lot before I got the truck, but since I got it, this is my first experience getting help being stuck in a jam. Really great place!
