Thumbs up Why are my egts high?

I have ****** whistler intake, Stock 4" exhasut from turbo back with exception of aero4040xl in place where cat was. I just installed juice attitude. On settings 0-6 i get high egts. I have my alarm set at 1450 and my max egt set at 1300.

When cruising at highway speeds (60mph) and I go out to pass a vehicle and press fuel pedal about half way down the alarm beeps after a few seconds. i can see 1400 ish or 1350 ish for brief seconds on the screen and backdown is 100%. why is that? The outside temp is -35 celcius and I have it all coming in under hood aimed at the whistler. even at stock setting 0 the alarm goes off. Is it maybe my engine revving high during shifts? (auto 48re) the initial revving maybe spurts high egts briefly?

mine was doing that at first too. all i did was, instead of using the screw and nut the pyro came with, i stuck a rivit in there, and all of a sudden my temps were in the normal range.

Had the same problem. Call edge, they will have you put a ohm meter on the pyro. Mine was reading the wrong resistance. They shipped me a new one and everything is great now.

No really, im dead serious! thats all i did and it was back to normal! no joke!

I just put a rivit where there pyro wires connect to the wires to my outlook instead of the screw and nut.

Maybe it is a Thermocouple problem........BUT

When is everyone with a 600 motor going to realize that 1300-1400 deg is normal and not hot???? That should be a sticky.

That and some boost pressure stickies for the 305 vs 325 trucks. Those questions must be asked at least once a day.

I can't even see 1350 on my truck and look at my mods. I should be seeing alot more then that expecially when everybody else sees 1450 with just a chip.

Your truck probably hit those temps even stock! Mine did... If I were you I would set the max EGTs to 1450 degrees......

Your pyro is not reading correctly, I wouldnt trust it.

Edit, I see your post turbo, but that still sounds a little low compared to what most truck run. Last truck I drove with a setup like yours with the probe pre turbo would hit 1500 easily.

you never see 800' because your pyro is post turbo, a pre turbo pyro should see about 1200 running empty when you step on it unless you are modded right up. i have only seen +1200 when pulling my trailer and step on it.

Look at the turbo youre running as well. that'll keep the egts in check quite abit.
